My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus) novel Chapter 1130

The next day, Laura was nervous. She felt just like a teenager again. She couldn't stop thinking about her first date with Adrian—because yes, there had been a first date.

That first date was when she truly got to know the Adrian she had fallen in love with. She had already seen him as the handsome guy, but the fact that he showed her his more human side back then—that had been simply wonderful.

Now, all she could do was get lost in the memory of that day and hope things would be like that again. Just like back then, when he drove her out to a quiet meadow far from the city, where he'd prepared everything for the date, with candy in the car and a whole list of things to talk about.

"My darling…" Emma said, noticing how lost Laura was in thought.

"Emma, I'm sorry… I just have a lot on my mind," Laura replied, a little flustered.

"How are you feeling?"

"Nervous… But don't tell anyone."

"Sweetheart, who would I tell?"

"So… it's okay for me to leave my baby girl with you?"

"Of course, sweetheart!"

"Tonight's yours—your evening, your night. Enjoy it. You've waited at least two years for this."

"Emma, how…" Laura started, but Emma cut her off.

"Sweetheart, you can see it in your eyes. And in his. If you two are giving this another shot, take it seriously. You're not kids anymore."

"Thank you, Emma! Thank you for everything you've done for me and my little girl!"

"There's nothing to thank me for, dearie. You two are like my grandchildren. Nothing makes me happier than seeing you grow and find your path."

After that short talk, Laura started getting ready. Emma watched her like a proud mother watching her daughter prepare for a big moment. It felt like Laura was getting ready for prom or something out of a movie.

"How do I look, Emma?" Laura asked once she was done.

"Do you… Do you want to say hi to Daddy, baby girl?" Laura said, handing Adele to Adrian.

He took her in his arms and gave her a few kisses on her chubby cheeks.

"Hi, my love! Hi, my sunshine! Did you know I missed you? I missed you both…" he said, lifting his eyes to Laura, whose cheeks were now bright red.

Laura was clearly no longer a girl. She looked amazing in her black off-the-shoulder midi dress—subtle, but with a touch of charm and allure.

Adrian was truly thankful Laura had given him another chance, but he knew he had to take things slow.

He couldn't rebuild something broken just because she'd said yes. It was going to take more than that.

"Alright, lovebirds, hand over my granddaughter and go already if you don't want to be late," Magnus interrupted, breaking the moment.

That caught Adrian off guard—he had imagined a date for three, probably grabbing dinner somewhere Adele liked and taking a stroll through the park. Now, with Magnus saying this, the situation had changed. He hadn't expected it.
