- The high tide of Epilogues
"Alice, you know, I have never been an easily conflicted man, but my feeling of that night was really strange." Cullen sat beside her and said.
"Strange?"
Alice didn't understand why he would use such a word.
"Yes." He tried his best to act as if nothing had happened as he looked at her, and said with a low and magnetic voice, "That night, my consciousness was indeed not clear, but at that time. I understood that I was drugged, and I had never been manipulated like this, but it was strange that I did not resist you."
Alice remained silent.
Cullen stared at her closely, "Actually, I never told you before, I was actually enjoying that night and fell into depravity."
Alice looked at him in shock, her soft lips moving but unable to say a word.
"You were lying beside me like a dead person. How did you attract me?" Cullen laughed softly as she spoke, her delicate face illuminated by the light, "Is that because of the medicinal effects?"
"But I still remember that before the effects of the pill even passed, I became very resistant to it." Cullen said.
"What?"
"I don't know. I only know that I enjoyed it in the beginning, but then I started to get annoyed and want to kill people." Cullen went closer to her, lowering his head and took a light sniff at her neck, "Perhaps Rosanna wanted to take you away then, and brought along your scent as well. That's why I was angry."
"You speak too fantasy."
Alice said.
Where did a man under the control of drugs get so much lucid awareness to feel so much?
Hearing this, Cullen chuckled, and reached out to embrace her body, saying, "I know you won't believe me if I say this, you have never experienced this kind of feeling before, you don't understand."
"How do you feel?"
Alice sat on the ground beside the bed and tilted her head as she looked at him.
"That's a ..." Cullen paused, lowered his eyes and looked at her. His black pupils exceptionally deep, the thin lip slightly moved and his voice was sexy. "It's the feeling of a person suddenly arriving here, without giving you any time to prepare, or even the thought of such a person appearing.
Alice was confused, "What are you doing?"
What do you mean someone suddenly arrived?
"You wouldn't understand even if I told you." Cullen said as he placed his hand on her shoulder, "I always thought that it was because I went too far that night, but only after I found out the truth of Rosanna's words and I realized that I am right."
"Alice." Cullen stared into her eyes and said, "Do you believe me? If it wasn't for you that night, even if I was drugged, I wouldn't have touched the woman on the bed. Do you believe me?"
Cullen asked it twice in a row, do you believe it?
Alice understood that he was waiting for her to believe him, but she did not want to lie and she said.
"You've already answered."
Sensibility was that she believed everything he said; reason was that she didn't believe it. Who would believe that a person who had been drugged could distinguish anything?
Alice still felt his disappointment, so she poked his waist and said, "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. What's next, is Rosanna taking me back? "
The place she poked was exactly where Cullen was in pain.
He really could find a place to make his move.
Cullen turned around, and his brows furrowed slightly as he looked at her while enduring the pain, "This is what Rosanna said, but I think we might have missed out on one of the rings in there."
"What?"
Alice looked at him in puzzled.
Cullen looked at her, his gaze turning deeper. He lifted his hand and snapped his fingers, and in the next second, he lowered his head to cover her lips.
Alice opened her eyes wide. Suddenly, she heard the door was pushed open by someone from outside and an excited voice shouted, "David!"
It was Cecilia Rossi, who played the role of York. She had changed into a man's suit, and his tall body made her look especially handsome.
Standing behind Cecilia Rossi was David.
He stood there like a ghost, his gaze focused on Cecilia Rossi. His mature and handsome face was filled with despondency.
He didn't seem to have expected this at all.
"David? Is that you? " Cecilia Rossi looked at Alice and him as she got closer and closer to her.
Alice revealed a little face from behind Cullen, looking at Cecilia Rossi. Cecilia Rossi was shocked, and she took two steps back, "That's impossible, David, is it you? Turn your face around!"
"Get lost!"
Cullen did not turn back as he roared out hysterically. He picked up an item and threw it at the door, revealing a watch on his wrist.
Alice remembered that this was the watch that David was wearing, and she was only wearing the limited edition one.
Cecilia Rossi stepped back, her expression fading as she stood there silently.
"I don't understand."
Cullen couldn't help but ask as he looked down at her, his long fingers stroking her face, "Alice, what do you think someone who looks exactly like you on the street will look like?"
"Lost twins?"
Alice blurted out.
"What if you see someone who looks the same as you in a man you don't know?" Cullen asked, "Your first reaction will still be to find out how this person could look so similar to me?"
"Nope."
David was the one who answered.
Alice looked up at David, and David closed his eyes in despair, "That night, the light was dim, and if York saw that scene, he would only think, I would rather have a woman who was just a little like him than him."
"Do you think he will come forward to identify me under that visual impact?" Cullen said.
Of course not.
Maybe the moment he saw Alice's face that was similar to his own, York had subconsciously assumed that the man was David, hence she had fled in panic.
"Although this conjecture is too bizarre, I have to admit that it is probably the truth." "I finally understand why York was depressed when he returned from the boat. Why he said from then on that he would not look for you when you appeared yourself."
He stopped searching because he was in despair.
David smiled sadly, "It's all my fault."
If only he could go see York earlier, that would be fine.
"Thank you, Mr. Cullen. Today was very meaningful for me, and I know about my good friend's past. I'm leaving, see you."
Cecilia Rossi lowered her head to Alice and Cullen and turned to leave.
Alice slid down the door while leaning on the ground, she was squatting on the floor and was in extreme pain. Seeing him like this, Alice felt extremely uncomfortable, so she walked over and looked down at him, "Brother, don't be like this, if the truth is like this, then my brother will finally be relieved, right?"
David raised his eyes and looked at her, his eyes reddened in the dim light. Tell me, how does he feel? I know now that he didn't put the book on him to wait for me before the accident. He wanted me to see it on purpose. I'm a sinner!"
"It's not like that."
"If it's not like that, then what else could it be?"
"Brother, after Cullen and I announced our relationship, York came to San Francisco City to look for me. I think at that time, he should have already known that he made a mistake. Alice said.
