Matthew met with Yesseca.
He told her everything that Preslie had confessed to him.
And what ensued was her rather-muted reaction .
She said, "Matthew, it's over. I don't want to talk about it anymore."
"Yesseca, you are being now misunderstood, even slandered. Don't you want to clear your name?" Matthew commented.
Yesseca shook her head no. There was a hint of indifference in her tone as she said, "No, I don't want to. I just want to sever all ties with that man from now on. As for whether he misunderstood me or otherwise, it doesn't matter anymore."
After a pause, Yesseca looked at Matthew and continued, "Matthew, you promised me last time that you wouldn't ask about him and me anymore." Matthew's throat closed up.
There was a ripple in his eyes.
Preslie didn't know much; he could only see a general picture from what Preslie had said. What was more, given that Preslie wasn't the person involved, what she said might even be far off the mark from the truth.
Therefore, if he wanted to clarify this matter, he had to get a breakthrough from Yesseca or Tremaine.
But both people were running away from this, as if they wanted to get rid of each other's memory, so he had no way to find out anything.
After thinking for a while, Matthew made up his mind and said, "Yesseca, Tremaine is getting married to a woman named Qiana Lanes."
He wanted to use this matter to trigger Yesseca's emotions.
Hearing this, Yesseca was stunned for a brief moment before she said, "Oh, they're getting married. Congratulations to them then."
Matthew was speechless.
He didn't expect Yesseca to be so calm when she heard that Tremaine was getting married.
"Matthew, I'm going to work. That's all for now," said Yesseca.
"I'll give you a ride."
"No, I'm good. I want to walk by myself today. It's not too far anyway", Yesseca said.
Matthew knew that Yesseca didn't want to continue talking to him anymore, hence her refusal of the ride. He didn't force her.
He went downstairs with Yesseca.
Matthew got into the car while Yesseca walked forward.
Even when her figure disappeared, he still did not start the engine.
Thinking of her show of equanimity just now, he was greatly disoriented.
Yesseca really didn't care a whit about Tremaine anymore. That was why she didn't want to bring up the past again, and she didn't even want to exonerate herself.
He may have had Yesseca's best interest at heart, but he still had to respect her. If she did not want him to intervene again and wanted her affair with Tremaine to blow over like this, then was his mentioning about the past a right or wrong thing to do?
Matthew pursed his lips and drew a blank on the answer.
At this moment, a figure appeared in front of Matthew.
It was Kylin.
He was here to send Yesseca to work. However, due to Matthew's impromptu arrival today, she had already left early.
Kylin then saw Matthew in the car.
He said in surprise, "Matthew."
Matthew got out of the car.
"You're here to pick up Yesseca?" asked Matthew.
After chatting with Matthew for a while, Kylin left.
From Matthew's point of view, the back of Kylin looked, in a way, lonely.
Kylin was truly in love with Yesseca.
Matthew knew it very well.
Even though Yesseca had broken Kyi in's heart by choosing Tremaine before, Kylin had immediately went back to her side as her staunch bulwark as soon as she broke up with Tremaine. Even if he knew that there was no result, he still wanted to be with her.
Perhaps he really shouldn't be thinking about how to resolve the misunderstanding between Yesseca and Tremaine right now. After all, these two people didn't have the slightest intention of resolving things. Both of them had laid bare an attitude: they didn't want to be together anymore. They no longer had feelings for each other.
Perhaps he should be like Selina and expend his effort on being a human Tinder for Yesseca and Kylin.
After thinking for a long time, Matthew could not come up with an answer either. In the end, he could only start the engine and drive the car away.
Matthew was about to head to the Perry Group headquarters, which happened to take the same route as the shopping mall where Yesseca worked. When he arrived at a crossing, he happened to encounter a traffic light, and he stopped the car.
He looked to the side casually, and his gaze was arrested by a human figure.
On the side of the road in the distance, there was a girl sitting on a bench, looking very much like Yesseca.
Matthew immediately opened the window to look more clearly. Coincidentally, there was a couple riding a motorbike beside his car. As soon as he opened the window, the voices of the couple entered Matthew's ears.
"Just now I was sitting there waiting for you, right? That girl has been crying the whole time I was there. I don't know why is she crying, so I asked her, but she didn't say anything. The way she cried was so pitiful that even I'm in an upset mood now."
There was a silence.
Matthew frowned and turned his car around immediately, without a care for the traffic light.
Yesseca hated herself.
She hated her incompetence.
