My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 909

Tristan Davis narrowed his eyes. “What did you see?”

Cynthia Rivera glared at Hilaria Vargas, then shot a look at Tristan. “I saw you two hugging. You and her.”

Hilaria blinked in surprise, color rushing to her cheeks. She ducked her head, lips curving in a nervous smile. “Cynthia, you misunderstood. I tripped and Mr. Davis just helped me up.”

“I saw it all,” Cynthia insisted, her stare icy. “Tristan, she definitely has a thing for you.”

Hilaria’s heart skipped; panic flickered across her face. “No, Mr. Davis, I—I don’t—”

Cynthia wasn’t about to let go. The image from a moment ago still burned in her mind. “You think I can’t tell? It’s obvious. You like Tristan Davis. I’ve got a sharp eye.”

Tristan’s expression grew darker. Hilaria went pale, her words tumbling out in a rush. “Mr. Davis, I swear, I don’t—”

“Yes, you do!” Cynthia cut her off, her tone triumphant.

She wouldn’t dare cross Emily Blair, but a junior secretary was easy prey.

“Tristan, aren’t you going to—”

Tristan’s brow twitched; his voice was low and sharp. “That’s enough.”

Cynthia flinched, shrinking back as she glanced at him. “…What’s your problem?”

Hilaria took a deep breath, steadying herself. “Mr. Davis, we should go. We’re really going to be late.”

Cynthia grew frantic. “I’m telling the truth!”

Compared to Cynthia’s agitation, Hilaria seemed remarkably composed. “Mr. Davis, I’m not interested. Please don’t believe her.”

Cynthia jabbed a finger at her. “You—!”

Tristan shot Cynthia a cool glance. “That’s enough, Cynthia.”

“You don’t believe me,” Cynthia muttered.
