My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 821

He knew Elizabeth Wilson had probably picked up on his feelings for Emily Blair. But he didn’t care—he wasn’t embarrassed or shy about it. His intentions had always been open and honest.

And what he wanted was far more than just the seat beside Emily Blair.

Tristan Davis got up, slipping one hand casually into his pocket. “I’ve got something to take care of, so I’ll head out now.”

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. “Already? You’ve barely been here ten minutes.”

Tristan gave her a rueful, meaningful smile. “What can I say? I’m at that age where I need to work hard and save up for my future wife. Otherwise, how am I supposed to get married someday?”

As he spoke, his gaze rested pointedly on Emily.

Emily acted as if she hadn’t heard a thing, eyes fixed on the television with feigned interest.

Tristan’s smile only deepened, a spark of amusement in his eyes.

Elizabeth drew out a long, knowing “Ooh,” her gaze flitting suggestively between the two of them.

“All right, I’m off,” Tristan said.

It was only then that Emily seemed to realize he was leaving. She looked up, her voice flat, “You’re heading out? Well, safe travels.”

As Tristan walked to the door, he deliberately passed by Emily, reaching out to ruffle her hair. “Get some rest, okay?”

She just watched his retreating back and replied with a halfhearted, “Mm-hmm.”

When the door closed behind him, Elizabeth grinned mischievously and nudged Emily’s arm.

Emily stretched, announcing, “I’ve been up all morning and I’m exhausted. I’m heading home to sleep—enjoy yourself.”
