My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 807

Andrew Lane froze for a moment. Then he heard Emily Blair say, “No need. Tristan Davis is coming to pick me up.”

She turned her head, glancing off in another direction. He followed her gaze.

A nondescript Audi was parked by the curb, its driver’s side window rolled halfway down. An arm rested casually on the ledge, long fingers drumming impatiently against the door. There was no need to ask who it was.

Emily had noticed the Audi idling nearby a few minutes before—the license plate was unmistakably familiar.

She spoke softly, “I’ll head off then.”

Andrew’s gaze lingered on her face.

Emily gave him a weary, indulgent smile, one she never wore around him—a private expression reserved for someone far more intimate.

Andrew’s fingers twitched. His tone cooled. “You and Tristan Davis aren’t dating, are you?”

It was phrased as a question, but there was no curiosity in his voice.

Emily hesitated. “Well… When did you figure it out?”

He didn’t answer. Just lifted his chin and said, “Go on. My assistant will follow up with you about the rest.”

“Alright. Thank you, Mr. Lane.”

She glanced at him once more, then turned and walked away.

Autumn was deepening, and up north in the capital, the air chilled quickly. Emily hadn’t thought to wear anything extra when she left home; now, standing five meters from the Audi, the sea breeze sent a shiver through her. She stifled a few sneezes, sniffling quietly.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the Audi’s door swing open. Tristan Davis stepped out, striding toward her.

Emily looked up, rubbing her nose. Her eyes were still red from sneezing. “You’ve been following me, haven’t you?”

“Do I have a choice?”
