Elizabeth poured water into the glass anyway, then glanced up, her voice dropping. “Did you and Tristan have a fight?”

Emily blinked, surprised. “How did you know? Did he say something to you?”

Elizabeth cast a wary glance toward the door and lowered her voice. “When I got here just now, he looked pretty upset. He’s been sitting outside and wouldn’t even come in to see you, so I figured you two must’ve had an argument.”
