”Mommy, this panda lollipop is so cute that it feels like such a waste to eat it,” Hailey said innocently.
Her childish answer warmed Willow’s heart.
Willow chuckled and said, “It’s okay. It’s just a picture made from sugar. You won’t be hurting it.”
“But I still feel bad. I’ll take it home and preserve it,” Hailey said softly with a pout.
In her opinion, the giant panda’s head looked cuter than she did, so she felt bad for eating it.
Willow just smiled and said nothing.
A child’s innocence was hard to come by after all.
Up ahead, Tristan and Julian had an arm over the other’s shoulder as they leaned in and whispered among themselves.
Julian whispered, “Tris, why did you go to the broadcast room to fix a computer?”
He figured that Tristan had another reason for signaling him to help explain why he had that sort of knowledge.
Julian and Tristan were really close to each other so they shared many secrets.
Julian could easily decipher the look in Tristan’s eyes.
Fearful that they might be heard, Tristan leaned in closer to Julian’s ear and whispered, “I heard someone shout ‘Mr. Hughes’ when I was in the restroom. Then I heard Mommy calling out ‘Mr. Hughes’ too, and she sounded nervous. I think they were referring to Jasper Hughes. Since the broadcast room’s computer can see the mall’s surveillance footage, I should be able to see what Mommy and Jasper were doing if I went and fixed the computer.”
“He told me to take care of our sisters,” Julian answered.
“Did he like them?” Tristan asked.
Julian pouted, feeling upset. “Hailey accidentally bumped into him, and he frightened her to tears.”
Tristan’s expression darkened. “Hmph, stupid Daddy!”
Out of anger, Tristan blurted out his thoughts without controlling his volume.
Willow was stunned upon hearing Tristan’s words.
