Willow had no choice but to walk back after missing her stop.
Upon arriving at the office, she saw the elevator doors closing. She quickly rushed over and called out, “Wait, wait for me!”
She caught the doors right before they closed and forcefully opened them to go in.
There were two men in the elevator dressed in suits.
One of them was strikingly tall and exuded the air of an aristocrat. His cold temperament filled the small space with pressure and iciness.
Willow gasped. She looked up at Jasper’s chilling expression and her back stiffened. She smiled awkwardly before turning around so that her back faced him.
She wouldn’t have rushed in here if she knew that Jasper was inside.
Tyson said, “Ms. Nason, you’re late.”
Willow took out her phone to look at the time. It was 9:10 am.
She was ten minutes late.
She explained, “I missed my stop earlier.”
She would’ve been on time otherwise.
Tyson didn’t say anything else.
Willow kept quiet too. She would’ve felt at ease if she was only talking to Tyson.
However, Jasper was in the elevator with them. His aura was so imposing that it made Willow nervous.
Ding! The elevator reached the highest floor.
Willow stepped aside respectfully to let Jasper leave first before following behind.
She watched until Jasper reached his office before she let out a sigh of relief. Then, she went to the secretary’s office.
Willow sat in her seat and rubbed her chest.
Yesterday?
She was working at Goodwill Technologies yesterday.
Willow explained, “It was my first day of work so I wanted to leave a good impression.”
Jasper signed his name on the document with great force before closing it. He looked at her darkly. “And you don’t need to leave a good impression today?”
Frightened by his icy gaze, Willow answered carefully, “Mr. Hughes, I really did miss my stop today…”
Her boss was now furious at her for being ten minutes late to work. What was she to do?
Willow felt terrified.
Was Jasper this harsh to his employees?
Jasper’s gaze darkened further as he said, “It seems like you prefer Xavier’s company.”
