Skylar’s heart raced. She said, “Steven, I have a few pressing matters. that need handling. Joe is rather busy as well. We don’t have time to visit Mom for now. Could you help me think of a reason to dissuade Mom from coming to see me?”

“That’s great,” Harry said. He nodded in relief. Then, he turned to Alexander to complain, “I’ve already said that I’ll be paying for it. Why are you trying to take that from me? What, do you think that I’m penniless just because I live in Liberty County?” 

Harry felt bad if he couldn’t do anything for her. 

Although Skylar had woken up, she was still extremely pale.
