Manfred noticed a sound behind him.
His back stiffened sharply. And he immediately turned around to look.
When he saw Vivian, he thought he was imagining things. He had believed she wouldn't come again. He even thought the figure before him was just a figment of his imagination for a moment.
"What's wrong? Tired from reading? Have you had dinner? If not, let's eat together. I brought grilled meat, fried chicken, and some fruit—there's a very special kind of fruit too."
Vivian was eager to share her favorite foods with Manfred.
Manfred blinked, still feeling like this might just be a dream.
Seeing that he was still staring at her, dazed and uncomfortable, Vivian quickly waved her hand in front of him. "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Manfred snapped back to reality and looked seriously at Vivian. Finally, he was certain this wasn't his imagination.
The person in front of him was the real Vivian.
"I'm fine," he said softly, his voice a bit hoarse.
Vivian frowned slightly. "Have you been reading without drinking or eating? Here, I brought lemon water. Have a few sips first."
She immediately opened the bag she had brought, taking out the grilled meat, fried chicken, and other foods, as well as the accompanying drinks.
Since she didn't have much tolerance for alcohol and Manfred was still growing, she didn't buy any alcohol.
Manfred felt his heartbeat quicken under her gaze. He didn't want to lie to her, but he also didn't want to make her worry.
When he didn't immediately respond, Vivian understood. "Let's eat first," she said.
"Okay," Manfred sighed in relief. He reminded himself to eat regularly in the future.
Vivian noticed his relieved expression and found it amusing. "Am I that intimidating?" she thought to herself.
"How are you these past few days?" Manfred began after eating about half his meal.
Vivian replied, "There's been a lot going on at school lately, so I've been busy. But it will get better soon, and I'll have more free time. What about you? Have they been giving you any trouble these past few days?"
