Ernest quickly said, "Don't listen to them! These are all negative items, and I can't allow them to stay in Avalon Residence."
"Grandpa, you should focus on your health. Let us handle these matters," Claudio suggested, noticing the other's anger but reluctant to speak out.
He didn't want to give away anything, and neither did the others. Everyone had their own desires.
So, it seemed Ernest was truly losing his senses. At his age, and with his health failing, he still insisted on meddling in everything.
"Exactly, Dad! Your health isn't in the best shape, so let us handle these issues. We know who to trust and who to avoid. In your condition, you're not thinking as clearly as you used to."
The group began to chatter, each one speaking over the other. Ernest felt an overwhelming urge to rise from his wheelchair and shake them back to their senses.
They were out of their minds. These were negative items. One by one, they treated these items as treasures, completely disregarding him as the head of the family.
They hadn't even thought about the consequences these negative items could bring. He was their father and grandfather, yet not one of them would heed his words.
Perhaps his fury was too great; he suddenly succumbed to a coughing fit. The others did not approach him but instructed a nearby maid, "Go check on Grandpa!"
Skylar observed the scene unfold before her. She couldn't help but think that Ernest's children and grandchildren had reached a hopeless state. It was hard to find the right words to describe it.
Seizing the moment, Claudio leaned toward Skylar and whispered, "Joe has lost his memory, so why are you still with him? Since we've run into each other today, why not consider divorcing him and being with me instead?"
Skylar was utterly captivating. She was a woman who was hard to forget, the kind that lingered in the mind.
From this point forward, the chaos unfolding in the house would not involve Joe in the slightest.
Ernest wanted to stop Skylar from leaving, but a fit of coughing left him feeling faint and powerless. Combined with the words from Claudio and the others, he felt trapped with no way out.
This was a disaster. It was over.
Claudio and the others watched with cold expressions as Skylar and Joe departed. Once the maids hurriedly helped the infuriated Ernest back to his room, they turned their attention to the negative items on the floor.
Everyone exchanged glances, understanding the unspoken agreement. They all knew exactly why those negative items had been brought into the house.
