"The wedding is still ongoing. Steven and Mona's love story is so beautiful and touching." Skylar sent it to Joe.
"We'll also have our own wedding soon. What kind of wedding do you want? I'll prepare for it," Joe replied.
It felt as if he were saying that he would give her what others have as well. This made Skylar's heart flutter slightly.
Then, she typed her reply. "Let's plan it together. We'll create a wedding we both love."
Joe's reply was quick. "I like whatever you like."
Joe had become exceptionally good at sweet-talking. Skylar suspected he might have secretly read books on that. Otherwise, how could he be so good at making her happy?
And yet, it worked.
Just as Skylar was about to reply, she suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure. Her brows furrowed slightly in thought as she walked over.
At that moment, Annie stood quietly in a corner, looking at the romantic wedding scene.
Her eyes were fixed on Steven. She was wearing sunglasses and was pressing her lips together.
None of the staff nearby noticed her presence, and the guests were all focused on the bride and groom.
Although she was a little far away, Annie seemed to see the unmistakable love in Steven's eyes when he looked at Mona—a love so genuine it was impossible to hide.
When the couple exchanged glances, it made everyone else around them feel irrelevant.
Annie felt a throb in her heart as she watched on.
This scene had once been part of her dreams. If she hadn't done those things a few years ago, the person marrying Steven would have been her. She would have been the apple of his eyes.
Perhaps they would have married three years ago and would have their own children by now, living as a happy family.
"Annie."
"If I hadn't been so greedy back then, I would have been the one with happiness now."
"There are no ifs in life."
Annie smiled bitterly. "That's true. There are no ifs in life. I've just been thinking too much."
Suddenly, she thought of the recent headlines in Jipsburg. She pitied Skylar back then as her marriage to Joe was hidden from the world. Later, Joe even had an accident.
Yet now, Joe had returned, Skylar had her own company, and the Sullivan family members she once looked down on were thriving in their respective fields.
Annie had to admit that Skylar's life was extraordinary.
"If you ever need help, feel free to come to me. I still want to mend things and be friends with you. Please pass my congratulations to your brother. I wish him a happy marriage and a lifetime of love with his beloved."
Annie left after leaving her words.
