Ned grew up in an orphanage and was a loner. He didn't want to make friends during university and only had Rosa as his girlfriend.
Later, when he started working, Ned was ostracized in the company.
It was very different from the current version of him who, although cold in demeanor, exuded a natural leadership presence that made people unconsciously follow him.
Now, those who worked for him greatly admired him.
Thinking of this, Rosa felt even more uneasy. She had initially thought that leaving Jipsburg would help her avoid some trouble, but now it seemed she had overdone it. Her insistence on leaving Jipsburg made Joe suspicious, deepening her own anxiety.
She held her breath, waiting nervously for Joe's response.
Joe looked at Rosa, who was avoiding his gaze in panic, and his doubts grew even more.
"Stop overthinking. Go home and rest to prepare for your surgery in a couple of days," he said in a deep voice.
When Rosa realized that Joe hadn't directly answered her, she felt hurt and even a bit shattered.
"Ned, you have to trust me. The person I love the most in this world is you."
"Yes," Joe responded as concisely as ever.
But in Rosa's eyes, it seemed as though he couldn't even be bothered to say more to her. Her chest felt like it was weighed down by a heavy stone that wouldn't settle.
"We're both strawberry lovers. It's good that we grow them, so there's enough for both of us to enjoy," Gloria said with a warm smile.
Gloria's maid in Murida, Veronica Elledge, who was standing nearby, said to Skylar, "Ever since you came back, Mrs. Martin Senior has been in such good spirits."
Although Gloria claimed to be a strawberry lover, she usually only ate one or two at a time. It was only when Skylar was around that her appetite improved, and she would eat a few more.
Hearing Veronica's words, Gloria quickly gave her a look. "I'm in a good mood even when Skye isn't here. Of course, I'm even happier now that she's back."
Although she was old and reluctant to let Skylar leave, she knew well that Skylar couldn't stay in Murida forever.
After all, Joe was never coming back.
