My Bloody Revenge novel Chapter 19

Almost a month has passed since arriving here and four days since Jaze bit her. Thinking of that

stormy day that made her end up here, Lyra can't grasp how well things turned at the end. Only

thing she thought of back then was to get as far away as possible, nothing else mattered. Now

she sits in a lavished decorated room, filled to the brim with all kinds of books, canvases and

whatever else that comes to mind. No one yells at her or demands to be pleased. It has taken

some getting used to but both Jaze and Lydoran are nothing but patient with her and each day

they keep reassuring her that everything is oaky. Always making sure she never feels left out

and explains when it’s obvious she doesn’t follow in a conversation. Every time a nightmare

haunts her sleep Jaze is there comforting her without questioning. Some things are still a work

in progress such as self-doubt and flinching around fast movements or when caught off guard

but with them by her side she hopes there will be a day when those things don’t scare her

anymore.

"Amazing."

Jumping from the sudden sound she almost falls out of the chair. "You scared me Jaz."

"Jazz? Music?" Jaze asks surprised.

"Ehm...it’s your nickname? Is it bad?" Bad thoughts invade her head immediately making her

feel insecure when he only looks at her without speaking. She didn't mean to offend him. Not

taking any initiatives of her own would probably have been for the best. Yet something about

the nickname appeals to her.

"No one has ever given me a nickname before." He states thoughtfully. "I like it and I love that

painting."

Relieved she sighs quietly. "I was afraid you might not like it." Lyra confesses.

"The painting?"

"What? No! The nickname." she speaks fast.

"That's better." chuckles with a wink.

"You tricked me?"

"Yeah, you looked on the verge of hiding in your seat. Speaking of hiding, you have been here

almost a month and never stepped foot outside, so let's have fun."

"Fun?"

"You still need clothes of your own so some shopping, as promised, then afterwards some

much needed fun at the theme park. Thought your room could need a stuffed animal or two."

Speechless her mouth opens and closes not able to fully comprehend what he just said. Theme

parks and clothing stores has so far been nothing but names and farfetched fantasies, dreams

never meant to be experienced. "I can go with you?"

"That goes without saying little mouse. Wouldn't be fun without you." he says leaning down

and softly wipes away a few stray tears.

"Can I ask Lyd to come too or will he dislike it?"

Smiling he grabs her hand dragging her away from the main library back into the former

laughter. Its somehow ironic how predators, that drinks the blood of others, are the ones to

show her compassion and a sense of belonging. Laughter has never been a part of her and now

she laughs every day.

"Thanks. To the both of you."

The bickering stops and both looks at her with equally puzzled expressions. “Not really sure

why, but your welcome?" Jaze says looking at his maker for help.

"Feels more like we should be the ones thanking you. Ever since Jaze found you things have

been brighter around here. More fun and not only because of our latest topi-"

"Nicely put ‘dad', until the last part." Jaze teases.

"As I was saying." Lydoran continues while sending Jaze a glare. "It warms my heart to see my

'kid' smile and be relaxed like he is now and it’s all because of you kitten. The fact that he has

taken three days off proves my point so thank you."

"Way to ruin the surprise." Jaze pouts in disappointment. "I was going to surprise her at the

theme park."

Shrugging dismissively Lydoran starts stuffing his mouth with food to which Jaze only rolls his

eyes before also tucking into his lunch. Lyra is buzzing with excitement by now and has a hard

time remining still long enough to eat her food yet none of them admonishes her for her bad

table manners. As usual they only smile at her.
