"I knew you would be in here, little mouse."
"Finished work for the day?" Lyra closes the book and gives Jaze a smile. It has been little over a
week since the tour and Jaze welcomed her home. Since then this has really been home and
Jaze makes sure to spend time with her every day. Usually the library is the place to go during
the hours he has to work so no surprise he found her there.
"More like for the moment, sneaked away but I hope to get the rest of the day off." He says
with a hearty chuckle. "I came here hoping you would join me for lunch?"
"I would be happy to."
"And there's someone I'd like you to meet." Hearing that made the book fall out of her hands
and fear starts to seep into her body. Meeting a new person was something she never
liked. New people always meant more of everything that is bad. "None of that now." Warm
arms wrap around her and the fear slowly subsides until it no longer controls her thoughts.
"Nothing bad is going to happen." Nodding she give him a weak smile. "He is a friend of mine.
Promise you won’t leave me after tasting his food?" He jokes trying to ease her fears. Together
they stand up and she takes his hand before following him towards the kitchen where this
heavenly aroma greets them.
"Nice of you to finally join." a deep, masculine, yet melodic voice says.
"Don't act like such a grumpy grandpa. You should cut down on your lemons, they make you so
sour."
"Ha ha you’re such a comedian Jaze."
"Hearing you finally admit that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I knew you loved me
beneath that sour exterior of yours."
"Just sit your fat ass down and occupy that big mouth of yours with food instead."
"Manners Lydoran, manners." Jaze scolds playfully knowing very well that he sounds like an
obnoxious kid. From the sidelines, still holding hands with Jaze Lyra observes the back and forth
bickering between the two of them with interest. First, she thought they were arguing but
quickly thought otherwise when both smiled. While standing in her own world she failed to
notice when the bickering stopped and attention shifted towards her instead so when it
suddenly got silent, she looks up. Two nearly black eyes and two unusual grey, almost silver,
colored eyes look back at her, one amused and the other intrigued.
"Lyra, this is Lydoran. Lydoran meet Lyra." Jaze introduces.
"So, this is the little stray kitten who wandered the storm?"
"Hello, I'm Lyra." She introduces holding out her hand for him to shake. What she really wanted
to do was to run and hide somewhere.
"Don't be afraid kitten." Gently taking her hand he shakes it. "It’s nice to meet you. Come, time
to eat."
Following Jaze she takes a seat next to Jaze but sneaks a curious glance at Lydoran. Just like Jaze
he is tall and well built. Guessing she would put him around the same age too. He has a little
"Okay. Thank you again for the delicious meal and it was nice meeting you." She speaks so fast
it’s a miracle anyone comprehended that.
"You will see lots more of him, little mouse. Lydoran lives here from time to time. We will have
you healthy and happy in no time."
"Will you be here tomorrow?" she bluntly asks feeling brave and bold while also way out of her
comfort zone. Lyra wants to make an effort and get to know the people Jaze likes but it still
feels wrong to speak out of turn. HE would punish her severely.
"I'll be here around eleven or so and then stay for a week. Maybe longer. What do you want for
lunch tomorrow?"
"I always wanted to taste pasta Bolognese. Could you maybe do that?"
"I'll be happy to. See you tomorrow kitten."
"Thank you. Bye, bye." Lyra waves.
"Bye sourfart. See your grumpy self tomorrow and I promise to miss you plenty."
"Don't let the big, obnoxious, kid drive you insane kitten." Lydoran points towards Jaze smiling
innocently.
"Has no one told you its rude to ignore when someone speaks to you? Have you no manners?"
Jaze continues to taunt.
"I show manners where it matters." Lydoran retorts giving Lyra a little wave as he leaves.
"Rude man, rude." Jaze yells only to hear Lydoran’s laughter fill the hallway as he walks away.
