Chapter 332: Different Side of the Queen

Chapter 332

~Valerie’s POV~

I swallowed hard; my throat suddenly felt dry. Dristan’s arm tightened around me like he could sense the storm brewing inside me.

He wasn’t the only one. My other mates were tense too.

We hadn’t marked each other yet, but somehow, we were starting to feel more connected.

I turned in Dristan’s hold, following the voice that had called my name.

The man stood a few feet away, tall, sharp, and cold, like he’d been carved out of ice.

His expression gave nothing away. He inclined his head slightly, acknowledging me but saying nothing until I managed to pull free from Dristan’s hold.

"This way, if you please, Ms. Valerie," he said evenly.

I nodded and stepped forward, but Dristan immediately moved with me. So did Kai, Axel, and Xade, until the man suddenly lifted a hand, palm out.

"Alone, please."

A low growl rumbled from Dristan’s chest, echoed faintly by the others, but none of them moved.

Their jaws were tight, their eyes locked on me like I’d be stolen from them.

"It’s okay," I whispered to them, even though my voice wasn’t as steady as I wanted it to be.

Reluctantly, they stopped. Dristan’s hand lingered on mine for a second longer, his thumb brushing against my knuckles.

Then I let go.

The man turned and started walking, and I followed while my mates stayed behind.

When we got behind the field, a sleek black car waited at the curb. The Lycan guard opened the door without a word.

I hesitated only a heartbeat before sliding in, and the door closed shut, leaving me in unsettling silence.

For a moment, I thought I’d be riding alone, until the other door opened and she stepped in.

The Lycan Queen.

My chest tightened instantly. She didn’t look threatening, not really, but there was an undeniable weight in her presence.

Power radiated off her effortlessly, like sunlight warming everything it touched but burning if you got too close.

She smiled softly, folding her hands in her lap as the car began to move.

"You look like a deer about to bolt," she said lightly.

I blinked, startled. "I—um—it’s just... unexpected," I managed, fumbling for words.

Her smile deepened. "Don’t worry, little one. I don’t bite."

She leaned back against the seat, eyes studying me with a mix of curiosity and something warmer, like she was holding back a secret she was dying to share.

The silence stretched for a beat before she finally asked, "Tell me about them."

Though their fights with the Alpha Kings’ Heirs were any proof, then yes.

"So," she continued, crossing one elegant leg over the other, "tell me, Valerie... how did you meet my sons?"

I blinked at her, caught off guard. "Ash and Ace?"

She smiled fondly at the mention of their names. "Mm. My troublesome darlings. I want to know everything — how you met them, how the matebond with them feels... and," her voice softened just slightly, "whether you met them first or the Alpha Kings’ heirs."

I hesitated but answered honestly. "I met the Alpha Kings’ heirs first," I admitted. "Ash and Ace came into the picture later... and when the matebond synced with them, it... um, caused chaos."

Aurora’s brows arched with intrigue, and I couldn’t miss the sparkle in her eyes. "Chaos?"

I nodded, a little sheepish. "Yeah. My other mates were there at the time. Let’s just say... they didn’t take it very well that the Moon Goddess gave me more. They almost fought."

For a second, Aurora was quiet. Then, to my utter shock, she laughed—not a soft, polite chuckle but a full, youthful giggle, like a teenager gossiping with her best friend.

"Oh, Moon Goddess," she said, wiping the corner of her eye. "Of course they did. My sons can’t resist stirring trouble when it comes to something or someone they want."

Her laughter was infectious, warming something deep in my chest. It was... disarming.

She leaned back, still smiling. "But truly, I understand now. My boys are darlings, but they can be quite a handful."

I found myself smiling back despite my earlier tension. "Troublesome darlings, huh?"

"Mhm." She tilted her head, her tone softening. "But they’re also softies. Especially Ash."

That caught my attention. "Ash?"
