Fortunately, the two creatures were still somewhat weak. They had only recently woken up after being subdued by the knockout drop, and their strength hadn’t fully returned yet.
In truth, Mike hadn’t expected them to regain consciousness so quickly.
Perhaps it was because both of them were king-type mutated animals among their species. Their stronger constitution, combined with their mutation, likely gave them greater resistance to the knockout drop’s effects.
Kisha had originally told Mike to inform her as soon as the animals woke up.
But Mike hesitated.
Instead of immediately reporting it, he decided to try taming them first.
He didn’t want to give up so quickly.
More than that, he didn’t want Kisha to think he was useless. He genuinely wanted to learn how to tame mutated animals so he could contribute to the grand vision for the future that Kisha had shared with them, a vision that he himself believed in deeply.
So as he stepped closer, Mike showed no fear.
After all, the mutated farm animals that had been brought to his farm before had reacted in similar ways at first. Because of that, he already had some experience dealing with nervous and aggressive mutated animals.
Of course, the mutated black wolf and the mutated porcupine were far more ferocious than ordinary mutated livestock.
But in the end, they were still animals.
And Mike believed that his ’Talent: Animal Care’ and ’Gift: Fostering’ were not limited to farm animals alone. As long as the creature was an animal, those abilities should still work.
At least, that was what he believed.
And Kisha seemed to believe it, too.
Otherwise, she would never have entrusted him with such an important responsibility in the first place.
"Calm down... I don’t mean to harm you," Mike said gently as he slowly inched closer to the two mutated animals. "Here, I brought some food for both of you... Do you want it?"
As if they could somehow understand his intentions, the mutated black wolf and the mutated porcupine gradually lowered their warning growls and squeals.
Their bodies were still tense, but the hostility in their eyes had softened slightly.
Mike continued stepping forward carefully until he was close enough to place the food on the ground in front of them. However, he made sure to keep a safe distance, far enough that the two animals couldn’t suddenly lunge at him.
After all, they weren’t tamed yet.
A sneak attack was still possible, and with their massive size and strength, even a single bite could easily tear half his body apart. Mike had no intention of risking his life recklessly, especially when the thought of his grandfather grieving over him was enough to make him even more cautious.
So he made sure to prioritize his safety.
Once he set the food down, Mike slowly stepped back.
The two mutated animals, still lying on the ground with thick ropes tightly binding their bodies, stopped growling entirely. Instead, their noses twitched as they leaned slightly forward.
They began sniffing the food Mike had placed before them.
Sniff...
Sniff...
The mutated black wolf sniffed the air, and its eyes immediately lit up.
The moment it caught the scent of food, its attention was completely drawn to the whole chicken lying on the ground. Because of the preservation function in the warehouse, the chicken still smelled incredibly fresh, with a faint metallic hint of blood lingering in the air.
That scent alone was enough to make the wolf’s mouth water.
At that moment, Mike was completely forgotten.
The wolf’s entire focus was locked onto the chicken in front of it. It stretched its neck and tried to reach the food with its tongue, but the chicken was placed about a foot and a half away, just far enough that its tongue couldn’t reach it.
Frustrated, the wolf tried wriggling forward.
But the thick ropes binding its body were tied too tightly, preventing it from moving even an inch closer.
Unable to reach the food no matter how hard it tried, the mutated wolf finally let out a pitiful whine. Slowly, it lifted its head and looked toward Mike with an almost pleading expression.
Seeing this, Mike raised an eyebrow.
’That was fast...’
He hadn’t expected the proud and mighty wolf to surrender its dignity so quickly just because of food. In his imagination, the wolf should have stubbornly turned its head away, ignoring the food completely until hunger eventually forced it to give in.
But there was one thing Mike hadn’t considered.
The whole chicken he brought carried spiritual energy, making it far more enticing than ordinary food.

Compared to the rough prey they normally fought for outside, the food before them looked almost like premium delicacies.
Of course, their quick change in attitude was also thanks to Mike’s ’Talent: Animal Care’ and ’Gift: Fostering’, which subtly eased their hostility and made it much easier for them to lower their guard and accept his presence.
