Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 67

Brian had heard the ripping sound clearly. He had not expected the situation to turn out like this. Frowning, he asked, "Did the fabric tear? Where exactly? Are you hurt?"

Charlotte didn't even let him finish. She snapped back at him, her voice sharp with anger. "My skirt. What else could it be? Why on earth were you pulling me like that? Do you expect me to just walk out there like this? You bastard!"

Brian stayed silent for a moment before replying in an unapologetic tone, "You were the one trying to run."

Despite his words, he reached up, removed the suit jacket from his torso, and held it out to her. His voice remained cold. "Put this on. I'll take you to buy a new one. I'll pay for it."

Charlotte snatched the jacket from his hand and wrapped it tightly around her waist without the slightest hint of gratitude. The jacket was large enough to cover the tear in her skirt, though it did not match her outfit at all. Still, at least it kept her decently covered.

Her tone remained sharp with irritation. "I don't need your help. Just stop blocking my way."

Brian ignored her. Instead, he raised his hand, pressing her between himself and the window, leaving her nowhere to go.

"You have two choices, Charlotte. One, come with me to buy new clothes. Two, we stay here and wait, with neither of us leaving. I have all the time in the world."

Right as he finished speaking, Charlotte heard the sound of approaching footsteps.

A moment later, a few bodyguards appeared outside the window. They clearly had no intention of letting her escape. One of them even stepped forward and, with exaggerated care, closed the window again.

Charlotte stood there, speechless. She had never felt this helpless in her life.

With Brian's men standing guard so tightly, there was no chance of getting away. Swallowing her pride, she chose the only option that would let her leave.

Gritting her teeth, she spat out the words, "Fine. I'll go buy the clothes."

The shopping mall was huge. She was confident that once they arrived, she could find a chance to slip away.

Brian had no idea what was going through her head. But hearing her agreement, he seemed satisfied. He called out toward the hallway, "Henry, unlock the door."

Charlotte didn't even bother to look at him, and her reply was as cold as ever. "What does that have to do with you?"

Brian, used to her hostility, continued without hesitation, "I know the Perry family well. None of them, or any of their relatives, would be able to afford living in Kingsfield Residence."

At his words, Charlotte's fingers clenched tightly, her guard instantly rising.

He was investigating her. Had he already started digging into her background?

Whether he had or not, Charlotte had no intention of telling him anything about her life. Ever since their divorce six years ago, they'd had nothing to do with each other. She owed him no explanations.

She gave a faint smile, her tone edged with mockery as she replied, "I wouldn't dare dream of reaching so high. The Perry family and their relatives are far beyond my reach."

Just thinking about everything that had happened back when she was part of the Perry family left a bitter taste in her mouth.
