Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 29

In the blink of an eye, more than ten minutes passed.

Charlotte finally finished inserting all the silver needles.

Just a while ago, Kayden had insisted he wasn't afraid. But now, he looked a little uneasy.

Despite his fear, he didn't run away. Instead, he stayed and cared for his father.

"Daddy, how are you feeling?"

Kayden could imagine the pain Brian was feeling just by looking at the number of needles.

Brian steadied his breath and replied calmly, "I'm fine."

However, only he knew just how painful his body felt at that moment.

Although he could bear it, the pain from the needles penetrating each acupuncture point was unlike anything he'd ever experienced. The ache seemed like it came from deep within his nerves.

Brian felt as though his nerves were being stretched and tugged.

He seemed calm on the surface, but sweat was already forming on his forehead.

Charlotte knew that this process wasn't enjoyable.

The parasite had been in his body for a long time and had done some damage to his system. So, it was normal for the treatment to be painful.

She wasn't surprised that he could still bear it now. But she wasn't sure if he'd be able to handle it later.

She didn't care how Brian handled it, but Kayden would probably be upset if he witnessed it.

With that in mind, she turned to Henry and said, "I need to prepare the medicine next. Take the little one out and don't disturb me. Come back in 20 minutes because I'll need your help during the needle removal."

Henry was stunned by her acupuncture skills and had no more doubts about her medical abilities. He nodded. "Alright. We'll leave now!"

With that, he took Kayden out of the room.

After they left, Charlotte told Brian, "The pain is still mild now, but it will get worse later. If you can't take it, say something. Don't try to tough it out."

From the start, she had never shown him any signs of fear. She dared to speak back to him, mock him, and showed no concern for his reputation.

It seemed like arrogance was a common trait among those who were capable.

But what shocked him the most was that he wasn't bothered by her attitude!

He replied calmly, "Thank you. That is the least I can do since you're treating me. Don't worry. I wouldn't misunderstand you. After all, it's normal for doctors to care about their patients."

Seeing how serious he was, Charlotte lost interest in teasing him.

She continued her work, took out a little bottle of ointment and rubbed it on the skin around the needles.

As a cool, soothing sensation spread across his skin, Brian noticed that the sharp pain from earlier was fading quite a bit.

"What's this?" he asked curiously.

"A medication I made to help ease the pain," she answered.
