Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time novel Chapter 438

Maggie hadn’t expected him to take her hand, the gesture caught her off guard.

She quickly pulled back and said evenly. I can walk by myself.

Without looking at him, she headed for the sofa area.

Franklin didn’t get angry at her coolness. He smiled, and once she sat, he took the seat right beside her.

The sectional around the coffee table was large with plenty of space; seeing him choose the spot next to her made Maggie pause, but she said nothingsipping her tea as she lifted her gaze toward Isabella trying out the drums.

Franklin also took a sip of tea.

Setting his cup down, he turnednot to Isabella but to Maggieand was about to speak when her phone chimed.

It was a message from Glen.

He’d sent a short video, followed by:

The experts say it’s a onceinthirtyyears meteor shower. Lots of people are camping out to watch tomorrow. My friends and I will probably go. Are you and Mr Gray into this kind of thing?

It had been a while since Maggie had gone out with family or friends just for fun. Whether they saw meteors wasn’t the point; the bustle of a night out sounded

nice.

She was about to reply when she noticed Franklin had tilted his head slightly, as if glancing at her screen.

She stopped and looked at him.

He met her gaze without a hint of embarrassment, then withdrew his eyes and casually topped off her tea.

He was sitting close enough that even without trying, he could see her phone.

Maggie said nothing, but shifted a little farther away before replying to Glen:

I’m interested.

Another ping from Glen came inbut before she could answer, a new notification appeared. Jimmy.

Long time no see.

A beat later:

Are you free to hang out tomorrow?

Maggie hesitated two seconds, then typed:

Sorry, I already have plans tomorrow.

Jimmy didn’t seem upset. ffis response was quick:

No worries. I’ll ask another time.

Glen messaged twice more.

Maggie exchanged a couple lines with him and set her phone down.

After those first two inadvertent glances, Franklin didn’t look at her phone again, nor did he try to close the distance. When she put the phone away, he smiled.

All done?

Maggie lifted her cup and drank, ignoring him.
