After Franklin explained his reason for leaving to Johnny and exchanged a few polite words, he and Julia departed together.
Maggie watched quietly, saying nothing from beginning to end.
Old Mrs. Green’s injuries were not life threatening, but her arm was fractured in several places. She would need to stay in the hospital for observation for two days before surgery could be arranged.
Seeing that the elderly woman was out of danger–and that Franklin had personally helped the Green family secure the best orthopedic team–the family finally relaxed.
Since Mrs. Green wouldn’t wake up for a while, Logan said, “Franklin, thank you for everything today. It’s getting late, and Julia said you have a flight tomorrow. Why don’t you head back and rest?”
Franklin didn’t insist on staying. “All right. I’ll get going, then.”
Logan clearly had something to discuss privately and added, “Let me walk you out.”
Franklin must have guessed his intention and smiled. “Thanks, that’s kind of you.”
Once Logan and Franklin left, Tracy couldn’t help but smile. “Franklin really treats Julia–and our whole family–so well.”
Sophia nodded in agreement. “Exactly. It’s all thanks to my sister.”
Julia forced a small smile at that but said nothing.
Franklin still treated her much the same as before, but his growing concern for Maggie was impossible to ignore.
She no longer knew how long his warmth toward her would last.
Thinking of Maggie, another thought struck Julia.
She and Franklin had left Cole’s banquet early–at that time, Maggie’s identity as both Nolan’s student and one of Cole’s founders had not yet been revealed publicly.
Now that the banquet must be over, she wondered-
She quickly grabbed her phone and searched online.
She found that after she and Franklin left, Maggie had indeed gone onstage to deliver a speech on Cole’s behalf–but there was no mention whatsoever of her being Nolan’s student or a founder of the company.
Julia exhaled in relief.
Feeling reassured about Mrs. Green’s condition, the Green family relaxed completely. Sophia, now bored, started scrolling on her phone as well.
She soon came across posts about Cole’s banquet,
Unlike Julia, her reaction was instant outrage:Maggie had gone onstage in Johnny’s place, representing Cole.
And in the video, Nolan’s wife–Dr. Yulia, a celebrated figure in the medical field–was half hugging Maggie, looking utterly fond of her.
Sophia’s face darkened.
“That Maggie–who does she think she is?!”
The rest of the Green family turned to her. “What’s wrong?”
“Maggie went up on stage representing Cole!” Sophia fumed. “She thanked the guests and gave this big speech–acting like she was the lady of Cole. So
shameless!”
Chapter 434
The Greens hadn’t been invited, but they had followed the event closely.
Now, watching the footage–seeing the Nolans‘ affection, Mr. and Mrs. Gray’s approval, Mr. Freeman and politician Jordan praising Maggie so openly–they all looked displeased.
Sophia grew angrier by the minute. “Mr. Freeman even said he wanted to offer Maggie a high paying position at his company! What’s wrong with these people? Do they actually think she has that kind of talent?”
Janice and the others didn’t believe Maggie had that ability either.
None of them expected Johnny to give her such importance–to let her speak for Cole on such a crucial occasion.
Watching Maggie bask in attention made Janice’s expression turn cold for a moment.
But then, as if reminded of something, she smiled faintly. “Nothing’s final yet. Things can still change. Maggie might look glorious now, but…”
But it wouldn’t necessarily last.
The family caught her meaning immediately.
Their mood lifted.
Sophia sneered. “Exactly. For all we know, that woman will be dumped by Johnny before long!”

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
