Chapter 431
Chapter 431
“Miss Brown.”
Seeing Rex approach, Julia gave a faint smile. “Mr. Hardin.”
Rex glanced around. “Why are you standing here alone? Where’s Mr. Wilson?”
Julia pointed in a direction. “Franklin’s over there, talking to someone.”
Rex followed her finger, looked, then let his gaze settle back on her face.
He paused, then couldn’t help asking, “Miss Brown, you don’t look very happy. Did something happen?”
Julia’s smile faltered.
Catching her reaction, Rex added, “Is it because of Maggie?”
Before Julia could answer, Rex shot a cold look toward Maggie’s side. “People like her can be riding high and still win over Nolan and his wife? The world really is unfair.”
Julia was indeed in low spirits tonight–and it did have to do with Maggie.
But not for the reason Rex imagined.
What worried her was that Maggie’s identities–Nolan’s student and a co–founder of Cole–might be revealed publicly tonight.
She’d been on edge for days, and now her nerves were stretched to the breaking point.
Hearing Rex, she realized he’d misunderstood.
She didn’t plan to explain, though. His presence, oddly, did ease her mood a little.
Just then, Franklin returned.
He spotted Rex and smiled. “Mr. Hardin, you’re here too?”
Rex nodded coolly. “Stopped by to chat with Miss Brown. Since you two have things to do, I won’t intrude.”
“Intrude‘ is too strong a word,” Franklin said politely.
Even so, Rex excused himself and left.
Perhaps assuming she’d been waiting to go pay her respects to Nolan, Franklin said, “You’ve waited long enough, right? Let’s go greet Mr. Nolan and his wife.”
Once upon a time, she would have seized the chance–Nolan rarely showed up in settings like this. Even if Johnny, one of Nolan’s students, disliked her, she’d have ignored him and tried to speak with Nolan.
But now…
Maggie had long since become Nolan’s student.
Which meant that the first time Julia had tried to approach Nolan, he already knew who she was.
Nolan had said her ability didn’t meet his standard for taking on a student.
He was probably telling the truth–but had he really been unbiased when he faced her?
And hadn’t Maggie already been “so talented” even before Nolan accepted her?

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
