Chapter 378
As soon as Maggie spoke, it wasn’t just Janice, Lauren, Rex, and Levi were all nned.
Lauren was speechless, that went without saying.
Rex had done a bit of research on Maggie before and knew that her family background was relatively average. While the Miller family’s business had improved this year, it still seemed unlikely that they could casually pull out several hundred million to buy a single diamond
Levi believed he understood Maggie’s situation inside and out.
With the Miller family’s current financial standing, even pulling out one hundred million in cash would be a stretch, let alone five hundred million.
Sure, Franklin had once prepaid twenty billion to Maggie as a thank you, allowing her to use it for the Miller family’s cash flow.
And yes, the family business had picked up since, and Maggie likely still had a substantial amount of that money left.
But still, casually dropping that kind of money on a diamond? That felt… insang
With that thought, Levi immediately pulled out his phone and fired off a message to Franklin:
[When I first saw your wife enter the venue, I was wondering what she was doing here. Now I get it… This diamond up for auction, you know the one? Starting bid was 400 million. She just bumped it straight to 500 million. She’s really trying to win this?! My god, she’s lost her–1
Levi was still frantically typing when someone else raised the bid to 550 million.
But before he could finish his message, Maggie calmly raised her paddle again
“Seven hundred million.”
Levi: “……”
He didn’t even bother finishing his sentence and just hit send.
Though everyone attending tonight’s auction had guessed the final bid for the rare diamond wouldn’t be under a billion, Maggie’s bidding style, raising by 100 or even 150 million at a time, was so aggressive that in just three rounds, the price had jumped to 700 million.
It wasn’t just Janice, Lauren, and Levi who were shocked, now even others in the room were turning to look at her.
The audience was packed with the wives and daughters of the world’s wealthiest families.
Even if they didn’t know each other personally, most of them recognized one another by reputation.
But Maggie looked unfamiliar. And with the way she was throwing around money like it was nothing, people around her began whispering:
“Who is she?”
“Do you know her?”
“Where did she come from?”
The bidding continued.
Maggie followed nearly every new offer without hesitation.
When she raised her paddle once more, the bid jumped to one billion.
At that moment, Janice finally understood, Maggie really intended to win this diamond.
Her lips tightened into a thin, red line.

Levi also caught on.
To be honest, he was in a bit of a dare.
Franklin still hadn’t responded to any of his messages.
But Levi couldn’t resist. Once he snapped out of his shock, he messaged Franklin again:
[Your wife just pushed the bid to one billion. Holy crap, she’s seriously going for it! She actually loves diamonds this much?!)
This time, Franklin replied fairly quickly.
But all he sent was: []
Levi:
A period? What the hell was that supposed to mean?
At first, many people had come with the intention to bid.
But for most of them, it was a mix of passion and investment logic, once the price exceeded a certain threshold, they had to consider whether it was worth it and wouldn’t follow blindly.
Some women were truly obsessed with diamonds.
And quite a few of them were wealthier than Maggie by far.
However, most of that wealth wasn’t entirely at their personal disposal, or their finances were tightly managed, so even if they wanted to keep bidding, many had to bow out once the price hit 1.6 billion.
In the end, the diamond was successfully won by Maggie for a final price of 1.8 billion.

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
