Chapter 319
Glen frowned. “You didn’t find anything at all?”
“About her ex–husband, not a thing,” his friend replied. “But did dig up a few other things. Apparently, she got married pretty young, but it didn’t seem like she had much of a relationship with her husband. The neighbors around the Miller family barely even saw the guy. Sounds like the Miller family didn’t like him either–they don’t even want to bring him up.”
He paused, then added, “Also, they already have a kid.”
Glen’s head snapped up, thinking he must’ve heard wrong. What did you say?”
“It’s true. I was shocked when I heard too–you’d never guess just by looking at her.”
Yeah.
He’d worked with Maggie at Cole for so long, and not once had she mentioned anything about having a child.
He truly hadn’t expected it. She hadn’t just been married–she even had a kid.
His friend noticed Glen’s stunned reaction and asked, “Want me to keep going?”
The implication was clear:
Since Maggie had been married and had a child, did he still want to pursue her?
If not, then there was no point in saying anything more.
Glen stood there in silence.
By all standards, Glen was nearly flawless, yet his romantic life always seemed cursed.
The first person he liked fell for someone else midway through his pursuit.
And now, just when he thought he’d finally found someone new to like, it turned out–she had been married, and
even had a child.
Anyone would need a moment to process that.
His friend sighed, patted his shoulder, and was about to walk away.
Meanwhile, Maggie was still chatting with Turner, her voice drifting over. Glen turned his head in her direction and found himself unable to look away from the way she talked and smiled.

A few seconds later, his gaze sharpened. “Tell me the rest.”
His friend, who’d already mentally checked out and was ready to go flirt with someone, didn’t catch it at first. “Huh?”
Then it hit him. He turned to Glen, wide–eyed. “Seriously? You’re still into her?”
Glen didn’t answer, just looked at him.
His friend gawked for a moment, then was about to say something when Julia walked over and joined the conversation ahead of them.
Seeing her, Glen paused.
His friend knew Julia too, so when she glanced their way, he had to raise a hand and awkwardly greet her. “Miss Brown.”
Julia nodded and looked at Glen.
Glen only nodded back slightly before turning his head away, back to her.
Sensing his attitude, his friend didn’t try to chat with Julia either. He leaned in and said, “Want me to keep digging? I mean, there’s not much else left, but I can get someone to look into it deeper.”
Glen replied, “No need.”
He was curious about Maggie’s ex–husband, sure–but not enough to dig too deep.
They were divorced. No point dragging all that back up.
He’d only asked in the first place to get to know her better. He wasn’t trying to do a full–on investigation.
His friend could only shrug. “Alright then.”
Seeing Glen’s attitude, Julia also looked away.
They had just arrived, and as soon as they came in, Glen’s gaze had drifted over. To Sophia, it looked like Glen had been watching Julia this whole time.
She giggled. “Sis, I think Glen’s really into you.”
Julia didn’t say anything.
Actually, the moment she found out Maggie really did have some impressive skills, she instantly thought of Glen.
If Maggie was that capable, maybe Glen really could fall for her.

Chapter 319
Maggie was undeniably beautiful. And when she spoke with Turner, that confident, composed air made her shine
even more.
She definitely had the charm to attract someone like Glen.
But when she looked back at Glen, she realized he was just chatting casually with his friend. He hadn’t looked at Maggie at all.
Now hearing Sophia’s comment, she smiled, feeling a little more at ease.

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
