Chapter 301
After the golf game, Maggie and the others still had plans lined up.
Franklin and Julia had only joined midway through, and perhaps sensing they wouldn’t be part of the next event. Franklin took the initiative after the game and said, “We’ve got something else later, so we won’t intrude any
further.”
Ryan and Reed didn’t insist on them staying. “Ah, I see. No worries–let’s find another time to hang out.”
Franklin nodded with a smile and left with Julia.
Johnny had actually been a little worried they might tag along for the next meal or coffee. Seeing Franklin bow out on his own accord, he relaxed noticeably and muttered to Maggie, “At least he knows his place.”
Maggie smiled. “Yeah.”
Once they’d walked a bit farther off, Franklin asked, “Not feeling good?”
Julia had fumbled twice during the game, and truthfully, she was feeling pretty down.
What made it worse was how much Ryan and the others clearly liked Maggie.
Even though she knew they were only drawn to Maggie’s facade–fooled by her surface charm–it still stung to watch.
But she didn’t say any of that aloud. Inscoffeed, she forced a bitter smile and said, “I made a bit of a fool of myself today. I guess I’ve still got a lot to learn.”
Franklin replied, “You have your own strengths. Don’t let small things like this get to you.”
His words did lift her mood a little.
She had to admit–Maggie had responded quickly and thought through everything with surprising thoroughness
today.
Honestly, that had caught her off guard.
She could also tell that Franklin had been surprised by Maggie’s performance too–he even seemed to regard her a bit differently now.
But… that was all.
Julia had noticed that even with everything that happened, Franklin didn’t seem especially interested in Maggie.
Long Time
Chapter 301
And despite her own missteps today, he clearly didn’t mind at all.
In his eyes, she still had all the appeal she ever did.
The truth was, they didn’t have anything else planned after this.
But she could tell: Franklin had only suggested leaving because he noticed she wasn’t in the best mood, and didn’t
want her to feel worse.
That thought alone was enough to clear away the lingering gloom in her heart.
That same afternoon, around 3 p.m., Maggie returned to the Miller residence after having coffee with Ryan and the others.
As soon as she stepped inside, Isabella came running to hug her. “Mommy’s home?”
“Mhm.”
She hadn’t been happy that morning when she found out Maggie was going out without taking her along.
But now, she looked to be in good spirits again.
Clearly, even without Maggie around, she’d been doing just fine here.
Isabella was about to say something when her phone rang.
It was a call from Franklin.
She picked up quickly. “Daddy?”
No one knew exactly what Franklin said, but Isabella responded, “Okay, got it!”
After hanging up, she turned to Maggie and said, “Mommy, Daddy’s taking me out to play. He’s sending someone to pick me up.”
Maggie’s expression stayed neutral. She didn’t try to stop her “Alright. Mommy knows.”
Isabella was actually a little reluctant to leave her mother, but Franklin was taking her somewhere she’d always wanted to go.
So when the driver arrived at the Miller residence, she got in and left.
After she was gone, Maggie went upstairs to get back to her work.

Chapter 301
On Tuesday, Maggie went to Willson Tech on behalf of Johny to handle some business.
When the company learned of her arrival, Jake personally came downstairs to greet her and Assistant Kim.
He was quite polite. “Miss Miller, this way, please.”
Maggie nodded.
She had assumed the meeting would be held in one of the company’s regular conference rooms.
But inscoffeed, Jake led her straight to Franklin’s office.
Back when she’d worked here as his secretary, she’d only “had the honor” of entering his office on rare occasions:
So in truth, she was quite familiar with the place.
It had been less than a year since she was last here, but somehow it felt like a lifetime had passed.
Franklin was already inside.
When he saw her, he looked up from his documents and stood politely. “You’re here. Please, have a seat:”

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
