"Fuck off!" Carlos thundered. "Keep talking like that and I'll set Evelyn up on more blind dates."

With a serious look, Sheffield said, "Uncle Carlos, Evelyn is suffering from depression again. She's taking antidepressants. Are you sure you still want to butt in? Do you really love your daughter?"

"Humph! You're just pretending. Evelyn already told me you lied," Sheffield said with a snort.

"She said that? Dude, that is not cool! Evelyn asked me to lie to you... Wait...you bastard! You tricked me!"

If Joshua had been right in front of him now, Sheffield would have decked him. "Asshole! I'm gonna beat the hell out of you when I see you again. You lie to me, and get my woman to do it too? With friends like you, who needs enemies?"

Joshua replied in a low voice, "Look, she figured it out. There was nothing I could do. Besides, I need to make Terilynn mine. And Evelyn can help me."

Sheffield was so angry he hung up the phone without another word.

Sitting in his office, he felt his rage grow. Evelyn totally played him. He hadn't imagined she would lie to him and make him pour his heart out.

Fine! He admitted that it was all his fault. He was too trusting, and he lost his mind when it came to Evelyn.

However, Joshua was in panic mode. After Sheffield tricked him into telling him everything, the young man knew he needed to do something. He picked up the phone and called Evelyn. "Hey Evelyn. Bad news..."

"What's wrong?"

"Sheffield found out that we messed with his head."

"What... This quick?" Evelyn pinched the spot between her eyebrows gloomily.

After hanging up the phone, Evelyn sent a text message to Sheffield. "Don't blame Joshua. He didn't do anything wrong."

This time Sheffield texted back quickly. "Don't cover for him. How could you two join hands to cheat me? I don't want to see you or Joshua ever again! Got it? We're through!"

When Evelyn saw the message, she texted him back. "Is there any way you could forgive me?"

Carlos snorted, "We'll see about that."

That evening, after work, Evelyn went to the shopping mall to pick up a tie and pay the bill.
