Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 925

"Even if she never marries again, I’ll take care of her for the rest of her life. And if she decides to remarry, I'll make sure she has a generous dowry. As her ex-husband, you really don’t need to worry about her anymore."

Each word felt like a needle, piercing Everett’s heart with ruthless precision.

The worst part? This was coming from Selena’s family, leaving Everett powerless to respond.

After signing the agreement, Blaine sauntered off, leaving Everett to return to his office and throw the contract onto his desk in frustration.

Alex watched from a distance, feeling a mix of fear and apprehension.

She had warned the boss not to mess things up, but he hadn’t listened. Now, karma seemed to be catching up with him.

The missus had run off again...

Everett took several deep breaths to calm his anger. “Where do you think Selena would go?”

Without missing a beat, Alex replied, “How should I know?”

“Exactly, how would you know?” Everett turned to glare at her, a frustrated smile on his face. “Since you don’t know, shouldn’t you get moving and find out? What are you waiting for, a miracle? Or do you not want your year-end bonus?”

Alex shuddered at the mention of her bonus. That was a low blow!

“I-I’ll get on it right now, promise!”

...

In Greenville.

Selena had indeed gone on a business trip. The branch office in Greenville needed an inspection. Initially, Blaine was supposed to go, but she volunteered, thinking she hadn’t been back in a while and wanting to avoid further complications with that insufferable man.

Haley hadn’t been back for ages either, so Selena brought the child along.

Besides work, they planned to stay for a bit.

She figured, with Everett off dating, he’d eventually form a connection with that stylish and beautiful woman. Once he progressed, he’d naturally let go of his obsession with her.

Back at the old Irwin family estate, Haley was thrilled, running and jumping around with her little legs, happy to be back where she was born and raised.

The next day, Selena took Holt to inspect the branch office. As she reviewed various documents in the office, her phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the caller ID, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

It was Rhett.

She hadn’t been in touch with Rhett for a while, and with everything that had happened recently, she had almost forgotten about him.

Selena answered the call.

Rhett’s voice was as warm as ever. “Selena, I heard you’re back in Greenville?”

Selena chuckled, “Yeah, you’ve got great sources, huh?”

She had only returned the previous afternoon.

Rhett didn’t hold back, “Blaine told me.”

Exactly the kind of ideal wife Everett had always wanted.

In the evening, Selena dressed up elegantly and arrived at the restaurant they’d agreed upon.

Upon seeing her, Rhett immediately stood up, his eyes filled with undisguised admiration, not holding back his praise. “Selena, you look stunning tonight.”

Selena smiled slightly, “Thank you.”

Rhett, ever the gentleman, pulled out her chair. After she sat down, he returned to his seat.

Under the soft glow of the candlelight, he couldn’t help but let his gaze linger on her. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed.

He had thought he’d lost his chance, but fate had favored him once more.

This time, he intended to cherish it.

Rhett’s dark eyes gazed at Selena deeply, and he suddenly pulled out a bouquet of roses he had hidden, speaking earnestly, “Selena, it may be sudden, but I can’t wait any longer. I’ve always liked you, and I want to ask you to be my girlfriend. Would you give me a chance?”

Just as his words finished, a deep voice interjected.

“Mind if I join you?”

Both Rhett and Selena were taken aback, instinctively looking up.

Everett stood by the table, his eyes dark and stormy, locking onto Selena with an intensity that couldn't be ignored.
