Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 294

His hand slipped beneath her nightgown, gently tracing the soft curve of her waist with unmistakable intent. The air was thick with unspoken desire.

Selena hadn't expected this sudden surge of interest from him. Ever since he'd come back over a month ago, he'd been nothing but respectful, just holding her during sleep.

She kept her eyes tightly shut, hoping to pretend she was asleep and dodge his advances. Maybe if she let him touch her a little, he'd stop. But as if reading her thoughts, he leaned in closer, his breath warm against her ear.

That spot was her weakness, and she couldn't help but shiver, her breath catching in her throat.

Everett nibbled gently on her earlobe, his voice low and raspy, “Mrs. Bennett, I know you’re awake.”

“…”

With that, he pressed a bit harder, making Selena gasp sharply, and she had no choice but to open her eyes.

Her gaze was hazy with emotion, her hands pushing against his chest, “Everett, I’m pregnant!”

She enunciated slowly, reminding him of her condition!

But Everett was unfazed. He shifted his weight to avoid pressing down on her, though his lips continued their soft journey down her neck.

“I spoke to the doctor today. You’re doing well, so we can keep things gentle.”

Selena suddenly remembered how, after her appointment today, Everett asked her to step out because he had a “question” for the doctor. So this was what he had stayed behind to discuss!

Her cheeks burned with embarrassment. How was she supposed to face the doctor now without feeling awkward?

Annoyed, she balled her fist and gave him a light punch.

Everett was taken aback.

Recently, Selena had been calmer, not constantly bringing up divorce. He thought she had accepted their situation, but it seemed she was just holding it all inside.

She still wanted to leave, even suggesting he seek comfort elsewhere!

A storm brewed in Everett’s eyes as he grabbed Selena’s chin with a bit too much force, causing her to wince slightly.

But she didn’t plead or back down; her gaze remained steady and unfazed.

Realizing that getting mad wouldn’t solve anything—she would just stand by and watch him stew—Everett knew he had to keep his cool. He was Everett, and he wasn’t used to not getting his way.

Calming himself, he let go of her chin, his touch turning playful as it journeyed down her neck, “Mrs. Bennett, you might be okay with it, but I’m not. I have standards!”
