Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 274

‘What's going on here?’ Selena thought.

Margot was visibly pregnant, her face etched with exhaustion and weariness, clearly indicating that this pregnancy was taking a toll on her. She was on her knees, tears streaming down her face.

"Selena, I know I messed up before and always caused you trouble. I'm genuinely sorry. You can hit me, yell at me, whatever you need to do, but please, I'm begging you, give Everett back to me."

Selena was at a loss for words.

Was Margot even making any sense?

Margot kept sobbing, "I know what you're thinking. You probably think I'm shameless for saying this, right? But... Everett and I were together first. You came between us, and you've had him for quite a while now. You should be content. My baby will be here in a few months and needs a father, too. Selena, please let go; I'm begging you."

Selena could feel her blood pressure rising, but thinking about the baby growing inside her, she took a deep breath and tried to keep her cool.

"First of all, stand up, so if anything happens to your baby, you can't pin it on me. Second, Everett isn't some object to be passed around. Whoever he chooses to be with is up to him."

But Margot shot her a bitter glare. "You're Mrs. Bennett now, the winner here, so of course, you can talk big. Everett is only with you because of Josh. You're just benefiting from Josh's feelings for you!"

"And you know Josh is on his last legs. You deliberately messed things up so your baby would have a stronger claim and try to manipulate Everett into staying with you. Aren't you, Selena? You're such a schemer!"

Selena was taken aback.

How did Margot know she was pregnant?

Margot offered no explanation. Instead, she leaned on the bed to stand and continued her persistence, "Selena, Everett doesn't love you, and he won't want your child. I can keep your secret, and when you two split, I'll make sure Everett gives you more money. Take it, take your child, and start fresh somewhere else. That's the best outcome. Otherwise, once Everett finds out about the baby, your child is doomed!"

No mother could tolerate hearing such curses on her child.

Selena was shaking with anger, but she was no fool. Getting into it with another pregnant woman was a recipe for disaster.

She bit her lip, trying to calm herself, and coldly said, "Get out. Leave my room!"

Margot wouldn't budge.

She had come to Selena as a last-ditch effort.

She had previously relied on Rebecca and even shelled out a lot of money to bribe Rebecca's best friend to stir up trouble, but Rebecca turned out to be useless. She was more of a hindrance than a help.

Kathlen got involved and followed the trail back to Margot. Kathlen directly warned her with a phone call. That left her no choice but to come here herself.

Selena's pregnancy wasn't stable either; an emotional spike could easily cause a miscarriage.

That was Margot's plan all along.

After a few days apart, he wondered if she missed him.

He certainly... missed her quite a bit.

Was this what they meant by "absence makes the heart grow fonder?"

Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a video call from Selena.

A small smile tugged at his lips. ‘Speak of the devil,’ he thought as he answered.

The video showed two women bound and suspended high in the air, about three stories up.

One was Selena, the other Margot, both looking pale and terrified.

Everett's expression hardened as he sat up straight.

A gruff voice echoed from the other end, "Hi, Mr. Everett, remember me? I crawled back from hell. Surely, you haven't forgotten me."

Everett's grip tightened on his phone, cutting straight to the chase, "What do you want?"

Jimmy's laugh was chilling. "Mr. Everett, I just want to know: Between your wife and your lover, only one can live today. Who do you choose? Who do you love more?"
