The driver, after hitting Annika, whipped the car around and gunned it towards Josefina. At that moment, Tori, determined to protect Josefina, barreled towards them in her own car. Seeing this, the assailant quickly switched gears, attempting a hasty getaway. But Tori was relentless, chasing him down like a whirlwind.
On the street, Josefina was overwhelmed with emotion, tears streaming down her face as she frantically called for an ambulance. Despite her injuries, Annika managed a reassuring smile for Josefina, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth. Fear was absent from Annika's eyes; instead, there was a calm, gentle smile.
Gathering her strength, Annika whispered, “Ms. Josefina, I'm just relieved you're safe.”
“Annika, you'll pull through. You have to,” Josefina urged, fighting to keep her composure. As blood continued to spill, Annika, with a weak voice, said, “Ms. Josefina, you saved my life. If I can give mine for you, it's an honor. Please, don’t cry, don’t be sad.”
Josefina tried to speak but was too choked up, her tears cascading like pearls slipping off a string. Meanwhile, a few people emerged from the nearby banquet hall. Oliver came out, with Shay and Sydney tagging along. Members of the Harrison family also appeared, witnessing Josefina kneeling on the road, cradling the wounded Annika.
Oliver rushed to Josefina's side, and upon seeing Annika's fragile state, his heart dropped. He quickly grasped the seriousness of the situation and called the police, then rang up Harry, briefing him and asking for an investigation.
Soon, Annika was secured in an ambulance, with Josefina and Oliver by her side. The Harrison family wanted to join, but the ambulance was crowded, so they decided to follow in their own cars to the hospital. After everyone had left, Sydney and Shay shared a knowing look.
“Finally, seeing Josefina in tears is so satisfying!” Sydney exclaimed with a hint of malice. Shay, barely containing her glee, added, “Mom, did you see how wrecked she looked? Turns out she can cry. Seeing her so crushed is almost... touching.”
As they exited the banquet hall, Sydney expressed her concerns, “Everything's wrapped up, right? I’d hate for Josefina to connect this back to us.” Shay reassured her, “Mom, relax. Everything’s covered. There’s no way they’ll trace it to us,” and they left feeling smug.
