Josefina told Dominic over the phone, "I'll head over myself, you guys just wait at home."
After hanging up, Josefina was determined to make the trip. She swapped into a white tee and denim jeans, lacing up her sneakers for easy walking. After packing her essentials, Josefina clipped a pearl hairpin into her hair and hopped onto her motorcycle, heading to Dominic's place.
Arriving at the doorstep, she dismounted, with Luke and Percy trailing behind, having just arrived. Dominic, catching sight of the stunning and cool Josefina, couldn't help but think to himself how lucky Oliver was to have such a perfect girlfriend.
Stepping forward, Dominic greeted, "And who might these two be?"
Josefina replied, "My assistants. More hands on deck mean a better chance at recovery for Mrs. Johnson."
With that, Dominic found no reason to object, understanding that Luke and Percy were there to protect Josefina. He said, "Alright, follow me. My mom's waiting in the living room."
Josefina, with a smile, led Luke and Percy inside.
...
Sydney sat in her wheelchair and whispered to Shay as Josefina approached, "Shay, remember to be sincere when you apologize."
Shay hung her head low, still struggling to accept the reality even after a night. Sydney tried to reason with her, "Do you really want to leave your mom handicapped? It's tough for me to get around in this wheelchair. You know our plan didn't go as smoothly as we hoped. I'm truly worried."
Shay slowly lifted her head, managing a strained smile, "Mom, I know what to do."
Sydney breathed a sigh of relief, almost envisioning herself standing up again. "Shay, I know you're the most devoted," Sydney said with a beaming smile.
Shay remained silent as Josefina and her team entered. Dominic shot Shay a look, prompting her to stand.
Shay was perplexed. Wasn't Oliver supposed to be absent? Was Josefina talking to thin air?
Josefina then hung up the call, waving her phone, "Oliver was worried I'd get bullied. I told him it's all good, but he wouldn't stop worrying. What can I do? It's beyond me."
Shay was stunned, "Josefina, you did that on purpose, didn't you?" Was Josefina deliberately making her look foolish?
As Shay's temper nearly got the best of her, ready to argue with Josefina, Sydney quickly interjected, "Josefina, could you please check my leg first?"
Josefina sat down, "Let me take your pulse first."
Sydney eagerly extended her hand, fearing any delay might make Josefina change her mind. Sydney cooperated fully while Josefina remained silent, with Luke and Percy standing by.
