When Josefina walked into the house, she saw Alivia, Mandy, and the Harrison family enjoying a cozy dinner together.
As soon as Hattie noticed Josefina, she put her fork down and walked over with a warm smile. “Josie, you must be exhausted. Annika’s been simmering some chicken soup just for you. And I got you some lavender essential oil; a few drops in your bath will help relax those tired muscles. If it doesn’t work, we can always try another brand.”
“Mom, I’m fine, really. I ate while I was out. I’ll just head up and take a shower.”
“Alright, sweetie, go get some rest.”
Josefina waved at everyone at the table, “I’m heading upstairs.”
Garrett added, “Josie, make sure you rest well. I got you some vitamins; we’ll start you on them tomorrow to help you recharge.”
“Thanks, Dad.” Josefina then headed upstairs.
...
A bit later, Alivia set down her utensils and remarked, “Garrett, you’ve got such a big heart. You used to dote on Lena so much, and now you’re showing Josefina the same affection. Lena must be so hurt; no wonder she moved away.”
Hattie, slightly irritated, replied, “Mom, can we get through one meal without bringing this up? As per our plan, I’ll have someone take you back first thing tomorrow. Even Dorian’s wife misses you and is coming to pick you up herself.”
Alivia fell silent, her mood visibly soured.
She then remembered the quick-relief pills Josefina had given her, which had worked surprisingly well.
Maybe, just maybe, Josefina could really fix her leg?
With this thought in mind, Alivia hesitantly asked, “So, Josefina’s medical skills are really that good?”
Hattie immediately knew where this was heading.
It suddenly hit Hattie that her grandmother’s constant harping about Lena might be because Lena had once claimed she could cure her leg.
Though Garrett hadn’t spoken up, he too considered this possibility.
Garrett said, “Josie is indeed very skilled, but weren’t you the one who refused her help for your leg? Didn’t you doubt her capabilities?”
