Lena's emotions gradually settled. Once she had composed herself, she discussed strategies with the person on the other end of the line.

After laying out the plan to Luke, Lena finally took a moment to quench her thirst with a sip of water.

Annika dropped by with a feast of delectable treats for Josefina.

"Ms. Josefina, I came to bring you lunch right after Lena dashed off. She left in such a hurry, I even tried to open her bedroom door, but that door is a real puzzle to unlock."

Josefina replied, "She must be hiding secrets in there to have such a high-security lock. It's fine, let it be if it won't budge."

"Ms. Josefina, I've been observing Lena for days. She doesn't seem to have many friends, nor does she go out much. She’s definitely in cahoots with someone over the phone, meeting up on the sly."

Josefina nodded in agreement and advised Annika, "You don't need to try opening Lena's door anymore; we don’t want her catching on."

"Of course, Ms. Josefina, I'll follow your orders to the letter."

Annika opened the food container, and Josefina's eyes lit up at the sight of the lobster bisque pasta—it was love at first sight.

Annika had also brought a plethora of homemade pastries, enough for Josefina to share with the staff outside.

After enjoying her meal, Josefina watched as Annika left with the empty containers.

Alex knocked and entered, laying the design drafts on the desk.

"Ms. Josefina, these are the sketches I've done."

Josefina perused them carefully, offering praise, "Alex, your designs are getting better by the day. If you're feeling weary, I can grant you some time off. Jade mentioned she wanted to visit the Rockies, didn't she?"

Alex sheepishly ran his hand through his hair, "Ms. Josefina, I can't believe Jade mentioned that to you."

"It was an offhand remark from Jade, but I took it to heart. The designs are approved, so take a break and travel with Jade. She's got finals next year, and a summer trip would be a good chance for her to unwind."

Alex nodded eagerly, "Thank you, Ms. Josefina. You're like a second set of parents to me!"

Right on cue, Oliver’s call came through, "Josie, I'm heading to Finley's birthday bash tonight. Would you join me?"

Finley?

Oliver continued, "I've got the gift sorted out. Just make an appearance with me and we can leave, what do you say?"

There was a pleading undertone in Oliver's voice, a clear wish for Josefina to accompany him, perhaps even a chance for a little public display of affection.

After pondering for a moment, Josefina agreed, "Alright, I'll change into something more appropriate and head over."

Her current outfit wasn't quite fitting for a birthday party.

Oliver reassured her, "I've got an outfit ready for you, the car's downstairs waiting. I'll take you to get changed."

Josefina was taken aback...

Oliver sure was well-prepared, leaving her with no excuse to decline.
