Child's play!
Josefina swiftly dodged, spinning on her heel to land a sharp kick on the vagrant's hand.
Clang! The knife clattered to the ground. With another well-aimed kick to his knee, the man crumpled onto the pavement.
Josefina’s icy gaze bore down on the fallen vagrant. By now, some passersby had already dialed 911.
A nearby cop rushed over, and Josefina recounted the incident.
With eyewitnesses corroborating her story, the cop pieced together what had happened.
“I’ve never seen this man before. Someone else is behind this attempt on my life,” Josefina stated.
The officer assured her, “Ma’am, we’ll take him in for questioning and make sure justice is served.”
“Thank you. I appreciate your hard work.”
As the vagrant was escorted away by the police, Josefina surveyed the onlookers with a detached smirk.
News of the incident quickly reached Orla, who called Josefina, her voice filled with concern.
“Ms. Josefina, are you alright? Why would a homeless guy attack you? It must be that scumbag Xavier!”
Josefina chuckled, “What makes you so sure it was Xavier?”
“Who else could it be? You expose his deceit, and suddenly you’re attacked. If it's not him, then who?”
Josefina hadn’t expected Orla to suspect Xavier.
But truth be told, Josefina suspected Xavier too. It was too coincidental!
That Xavier, running out of clever tricks.
“Ms. Josefina, I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault for attracting this rotten apple. I’ve learned my lesson. No more men in my heart, and I’ll be as sharp as a samurai sword,” Orla apologized.
Seething, Xavier parked his car in the basement, ready to head back to the office.
As soon as he got out, a shadowy figure in black, wielding a sharp dagger, slashed at Xavier’s right arm.
“Ah!” Xavier’s screams echoed, pain ripping through him as the blade sliced into his left forearm and a kick forced him to his knees.
Kneeling on the ground with a thud, Xavier felt like his kneecaps had shattered.
Gritting his teeth in agony, arms bleeding, Xavier barely moved.
Before he could get a good look at his assailant, they vanished.
Overwhelmed by shock and pain, Xavier passed out.
When he came to, he was in a hospital bed with Marina sitting beside him, her eyes full of concern.
“Xavier, what happened? Who did you cross to end up like this? Tell me, was it Teddy?”
