Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 408

Alex handed Remus the design sketches, knowing full well they were just quick and dirty drafts, not his real work.

Josefina, holding the designs, nodded appreciatively. “You’ve got a real talent for this, Alex. But these two need some tweaks. Change the long dress into a short one on this sketch, and on this piece, switch the sleeves to feather-trimmed puff sleeves.”

Alex’s eyes lit up. “You’ve got an eye for detail, Ms. Josefina. I’ll get right on it.”

Fueled with newfound energy, Alex always felt he found his direction in life when working with Josefina. It gave him a relentless drive.

Back at his desk, Alex quickly started making the adjustments while the office was still empty, avoiding any unwanted attention.

...

By nine, the office buzzed with activity—everyone except Remus was present. The news of Josefina’s return had everyone on edge, wondering if she or Remus would come out on top.

At ten, Remus finally strolled in, fashionably late.

Kale stepped in front of him, blocking his path. “Ms. Josefina wants to see you.”

Remus narrowed his eyes at Kale’s icy demeanor.

“Kale, you’re back on your feet? If something happens, you’re not planning to blame the company, are you?”

Kale smirked. “Mr. Remus, relax. I’m not leaning on you. Ms. Josefina runs this place, not you.”

Fuming, Remus brushed past Kale and barged into Josefina's office without waiting for an invite.

“Ms. Josefina, how can you let Kale work in his condition? If his injury worsens here, who’s going to take responsibility?”

“Mr. Remus, I’ll handle Kale’s situation. No need for your concern,” she shot back, not even looking up.

Remus took a seat, the desk a barrier between them, his anger masked by a forced smile. “You’re right. If anything happens to Kale, it’s on you. But if it damages the company’s reputation, that’s a loss we can’t afford.”
