Rhett rubbed his eyes, trying to make sense of the scene in front of him. He blinked a few more times, his eyes locked on Oliver, trying to piece it all together.
Incredulous and curious, Rhett finally asked the question that had been nagging him. "Mr. Oliver, are you two... a couple?"
Oliver, unfazed, replied, "And why can't we be?"
Rhett tried to pull Oliver aside, but Oliver shrugged him off. "Just say what you need to say right here, Rhett."
These two had a bit of history. Rhett had once tried to get Oliver to join his team, but despite all his efforts, Oliver had turned him down flat. Now, hearing that Oliver was dating Josefina, known for her fierce reputation, it was hard for Rhett to wrap his head around it.
"Mr. Oliver, you could be with any woman. Why Fiona? Don't you know what she's like? She's tough as nails, sharp-tongued, and as cold as ice. Can she even understand love?"
Oliver's expression turned icy, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "What’s the matter, Rhett? Jealous of her?"
"I'm not jealous!" Rhett shot back, teeth clenched.
Oliver smirked, "The way you're talking, it sounds like jealousy."
Rhett scratched his head, feeling more muddled by the minute. He turned to Josefina, "Is Mr. Oliver really your boyfriend?"
Josefina gave a sly grin, "Jealous of how well I'm doing, are you?"
Rhett was momentarily speechless. "What kind of nonsense is that, Fiona? Have some decency."
"Then why do you keep bad-mouthing me?" Josefina retorted, clearly annoyed.
Caught in the middle, Rhett felt the pressure mounting, and this unexpected confrontation left him at a loss.
