Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1137

As the horse charged through the field, all eyes were on Josefina. Oliver, already in the saddle, felt his heart skip a beat. He kicked his horse into action, but the gap was too wide; he couldn't reach her in time.

Hattie, panic rising, ran towards her daughter, desperation in her voice. "Josie! Josie, come to Momma!" she yelled, wishing she could throw herself between Josefina and the danger.

Frozen in shock, Cassandra soon wore a sly grin as she grasped the situation. The runaway horse was heading for Josefina. "Perfect," she thought. "Let it teach her a lesson."

On the sidelines, Sandi was struck dumb, her complexion ghostly pale. What on earth was going on?

Josefina raced to distance herself from her family, hoping to draw the threat away. But the horse was relentless, barreling towards her with a wild, untamed energy.

Then, just as panic peaked, an arrow sliced through the air, hitting the horse's neck with precision. The horse stumbled and fell, leaving Josefina breathless beside it.

Oliver rode up, dismounted swiftly, and pulled Josefina into his arms. "Josie," he whispered, his voice a balm to her frazzled nerves.

The ranch owner arrived, his face paling as he took in the scene: a collapsed horse and a visibly shaken Josefina in Oliver's embrace. "Heavens above! That horse nearly trampled Mr. Oliver's lady! What now?"

Brock, frazzled and shaking, approached, stammering, "Mr. Oliver, I swear, this horse has never acted out before. I don't know what got into it today."

Wiping his brow, Brock was at a loss for a solution. The Cole family gathered, tension simmering.

Cole, fuming, challenged Brock, "You assured us your horses were safe. What do you have to say now?"
