I slumped in our bed, my heart heavy in my chest.

Like I’d killed someone.

I cut the call, rolling my eyes.

He tried again, but his feet remained glued to the spot.

“I’m not able to,” he whispered, his heart starting to race a little. “Lia, I’m afraid you’ve frozen me to the spot forever.”

My stomach twisted.
