Chapter 713 It Isn’t the Right Time Yet
Damien smiled faintly and drew her into his embrace. “I won’t need to go and mope in the Shaw’s village as long as you remain by my side!” He sighed. “There was a time when I felt my frequent visits burdened Uncle Shaw and Aunt Sarah, so I created a commemorative album filled with shared experiences and photographs.”
“To ensure the album would last, I had it crafted from gilded metal…” Damien stared into the distance, hist voice trailing off. “I did this hoping the album could last for a long time, but I didn’t expect it to be lost in the devastating fire three years ago.”
He shook his head slightly regretfully. “Lennon speculated that someone took the album to extract the gold from its gilded exterior…”
“Although unfortunate, I’m grateful you’re back now.” The man looked down and gently squeezed Cherise’s nose. “In the future, we’ll have many more moments to commemorate…”
Cherise bit her lip. She held Damien’s hand and remained silent. How can I tell him the album is still tucked away in my suitcase?
The album wasn’t stolen for its gold. Cherise had rescued it from the fire with her bare hands. Moreover…
She glanced at her healed right hand subconsciously. She could still remember how the heat from the album had seared her hand.
The following day at noon, Cherise and Lucy were seated in a café near the research institute. “You’re saying Rowena claimed she saved Damien from that fire three years ago?”
“She’s utterly shameless!” Lucy slammed the table, gritting her teeth. “Back then, you traveled far from abroad to rescue Damien. You arrived just after the fire started and even injured one of your hands… but credit was given to that empty-headed Rowena in the end?!”
Cherise held her coffee cup in one hand. Her right hand twirled the straw, and she nodded as she sipped. “Exactly.”
“She’s so shameless!” Lucy still had a fiery temper. She huffed, “You haven’t told Damien you were the one who saved him three years ago?”
“It isn’t the right time yet.” Cherise shook her head. “I lack sufficient evidence to prove that I was the one who saved him.”
Lucy scoffed, “Damien is so smitten with you. He’d believe you if you told him you saved him three years ago without further proof. Besides, if he knew, he’d be so touched he’d whisk you off to remarry you at city hall tomorrow!”
Cherise continued to shake her head. “It’s not that simple.” She looked at Lucy solemnly. “You also need to keep this a secret for now.”
“Firstly, I want to see what Rowena’s next move is and if I can make her back down without revealing that I was the one who saved Damien three years ago.”
“Secondly, the person who tried to harm Damien by starting the fire back then… they’re connected to my family. If this matter becomes public knowledge, it’d be difficult for me to explain to Damien and the

Tanner family.”
“Lastly… The woman lowered her gaze. “We’ve just reconciled, and I was so distant towards him before… If he knew I still cared about him and had feelings for him for the past five years, he would be overjoyed and tease me for putting on an act.”
Lucy rolled her eyes. “But that’s what you were doing.”

🌸 Message to the Author: 🌸 Hi! I just finished reading your story, and I truly loved it — especially Damien and Cherise’s journey. But what completely stole my heart was Lennon and Lucy. Their final scene left me stunned… Lennon being alive, quietly showing up after all that time — it was such a powerful and emotional moment. But it also left me with so many feelings… What happened to him? How did Lucy react after the shock wore off? What did they say to each other? I keep thinking about them. I know they’re side characters, and the story is marked as completed, but I would truly love a bonus chapter — even a small one — to see what came next for them. They deserve that closure. And honestly? So do we, as readers who deeply connected with them. And we would also love to see more of Damien and cherise with their kids. Thank you for creating characters that live so deeply in our hearts. If you ever feel inspired, please consider giving Lennon and Lucy a little more. ❤️...
