Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) novel Chapter 1119

Chapter 1119 Revenge
"Ah, so that's the reason..."

He placed a hand over his kidney. "It was all because of this."

"Damien," he said with a voice filled with anguish. "If I hadn't received her mother's kidney back then, do you think I would have ever had a chance with her?"

Damien glanced at him. "What do you think?"

"I wish I had never received this kidney. I wish I had died from my kidney disease that year. Then... maybe I wouldn't have become who I am now."

The bar's multicolored lights starkly illuminated the despair in his eyes.

Damien calmly poured himself a glass of wine, took a sip, and said, "We can't turn back time. I wouldn't have let Uncle Raymond manipulate my father for his entire life if we could. So, we must keep moving ahead."

Lennon slumped over the bar. His voice was grim and bitter. "The future feels pointless without Lucy..."

"That's not true." Damien coldly set his glass down. "You still have revenge."

"Revenge..." Lennon laughed bitterly as he stared at the ceiling. "Give me a gun and a few men, and I'll wipe out the Belcourt family."

He sounded hopeless as he continued, "But the Belcourt family hides too well, too deeply... All these years, I've acted submissive all these years, pretending to be aligned with the Belcourt family, not daring to mourn my parents. I was even too cowardly to stand up for my woman. Even so, the evidence I gathered on the Belcourt family's involvement in my parents' murder is still too little..."

Damien pushed another glass of wine toward Lennon. "Maybe this complete break with Lucy is an opportunity. The Belcourt family has always wanted you to marry Violet. Now the whole world knows Lucy is married. You've completely broken up with her. If you go back and marry Violet now, the Belcourt family won't be as guarded against you."

After a moment, he raised his glass and downed the contents in one gulp. "You're right."

It was late at night. Colin lay sprawled on the couch, drunk and disheveled after drinking all evening at the banquet.

A servant brought a glass of water and placed it before him. "Mr. Gray, please have some water. Your wife is waiting for you in the room."

With his head throbbing, Colin sat up from the couch and took a sip of water. "My wife?"

"Yes." The servant smiled warmly. "Are you so drunk that you've forgotten? You got married today, Mr. Gray. Tonight is your wedding night."

Colin suddenly recalled that he had indeed gotten married that day.
