Cherise nodded vigorously in agreement, then tippy-toed to kiss Damien on the face before stepping out of his embrace.
Mr. Hampson had a tent set up on the small island so that Cherise and Damien could receive updates from Otto. The island where Raymond sought refuge was now heavily guarded by men wearing black. A four-story villa had been erected on the island, but with all the curtains drawn, it was impossible to see inside. However, in the open space behind the villa, there was a small helicopter emblazoned with the 'Tanner' name.
As Cherise studied the photos sent in by Otto, she placed a hand over her chest to calm her racing heart. If a helicopter owned by a Tanner was on the island, that meant that Beckham was there. At the moment, everything on the island seemed calm, but they still had not caught sight of Beckham or any of the Tanner people who would have come with him. The situation wasn't looking good for her father.
Cherise's heart tightened. She bit her lip and turned to Damien Lenoir, her face pale. "What do we do now?"
"We wait until sundown. Then, we can use the darkness and the element of surprise to launch an attack," Damien spoke calmly. "They have many guards on the island. During the day, they'll be more vigilant, and it'll be easier for them to spot us, so it's better to wait until night.
"There's no trace of him or any of his people anywhere else on the island, so they must be inside the villa. As long as he's there, whatever condition we find him in, we will find him, and we will rescue him."
Cherise nibbled on her lip, her voice trembling slightly as she voiced her doubts. "What if my dad..."
She was once a doctor, able to hold matters of life and death with a calm and rational mind. But now that danger had struck her loved ones, she realized she was just like the family members of her patients. She couldn't stay calm, couldn't keep her cool, couldn't help feeling sad and nervous.
"Raymond Lenoir contacted me earlier." Mandy's voice rang crystal clear through the line. "He asked me to prepare two billion for him and arrange a private plane so he can escape. I agreed, but I told him it would take time to raise two billion.
"He showed me a video of Uncle Beckham. He didn't look injured, but he seemed a little… emotionally wrecked." Mandy didn't know how else to describe the broken man she barely recognized. "He was determined to avenge Charisa and had thought himself prepared to meet Raymond Lenoir, but he didn't expect to run straight into a trap."
Mandy sighed on the other end of the line. "That's all I know for now. I'll keep an eye on Raymond, but if you need anything else, just let me know. Grandpa gave me the authority to mobilize all the resources and manpower of the Tanner family as long as Uncle Beckham's safety is ensured, but we'll follow your lead."
"Understood." Damien Lenoir nodded. "If I need anything, I'll contact you."

🌸 Message to the Author: 🌸 Hi! I just finished reading your story, and I truly loved it — especially Damien and Cherise’s journey. But what completely stole my heart was Lennon and Lucy. Their final scene left me stunned… Lennon being alive, quietly showing up after all that time — it was such a powerful and emotional moment. But it also left me with so many feelings… What happened to him? How did Lucy react after the shock wore off? What did they say to each other? I keep thinking about them. I know they’re side characters, and the story is marked as completed, but I would truly love a bonus chapter — even a small one — to see what came next for them. They deserve that closure. And honestly? So do we, as readers who deeply connected with them. And we would also love to see more of Damien and cherise with their kids. Thank you for creating characters that live so deeply in our hearts. If you ever feel inspired, please consider giving Lennon and Lucy a little more. ❤️...
