Married Without Love novel Chapter 5

||Mishal's POV||

“Congrats! You are expecting a baby,” She said with a smile.

I was feeling uncomfortable and looked at her in confusion when she said I was expecting. She wasn't the doctor which Zayaan had arranged. She put her hand on my shoulder which made me jump.

“There is no need to be scared,” She said smiling at me.

How could I not be scared? I was very scared because this was something which Zayaan and I were trying to hide. She gave me water and I gladly drank it. She was beaming at me while my mind was exploring everywhere.

"Who sent you?" I asked her, slowly and weakly.

"Your mother-in-law," She answered me, quickly and took the empty glass from my hand, putting it on the table.

She told me to take complete rest and not to take stress then went out of my room.

How could I not stress?

When she went out, closing the door on her way out, I closed my eyes and shredded my tears silently. I cried and prayed no one could find the complete truth or else everything would be finished.

I picked my phone and quickly opened the chat box. I had saved Zayaan's number and messaged him quickly instead of calling him because I had no power to speak right now.

Mishal: Our secret is known to your mother.

When an hour passed, my phone started ringing. Zayaan, who was sitting on the sofa in front of the bed, looked at my phone. He had come after fifteen minutes when I sent him the message and calmed me down. I picked my phone and saw it was mom and showed him nervously. He motioned me to answer with a relaxed voice.

.........

“How is my daughter doing?” Mom asked me after greeting me.

There was happiness and excitement in her voice.

.........

“I am doing fine!” I said in a little voice that was above the whisper.

.........

“I sent the doctor to check you. Oh my God! I can't tell you how happy I am right now. I am going to be the grandma of Zayaan’s baby. You are going to be a mother and he is going to be a father. Oh my God! Congrats to you so much, dear!”

.........

I fisted my free hand to stop my nervousness and looked at Zayaan who walked towards me and held my fisted hand.

“Th- thank you!” I whispered, slowly and felt my eyes burned with the tears that I was holding.

.........

She went on about the lists of everything she would do for the baby from now and what she would do after the birth of the baby while Zayaan held me and gave me his support.

I was feeling scared because of this unborn baby and for both of us, Zayaan and me, while Zayaan was driving the car smoothly for me and the little undeveloped human in my stomach. Both of us couldn't fall asleep last night knowing we had to go back to Lahore now and took control of this situation before his mother came there.

He had told me many times to sleep with any tension but I couldn't sleep more than an hour. I blamed myself for the whole night for letting that doctor check me without asking her who sent her.

I didn't know when the car came to halt but the door of the car opened and I was pulled out of my thoughts quickly and looked out, realizing we reached our destination, Zayaan's house.

A hand stretched in front of me making me look up at the owner of the hand and saw Zayaan was looking at me with a little concern flashed in his eyes for a second, making it feel like my imagination, because his face was emotionless. I quickly looked down at his hand and breathed slowly while putting my hand in his.

“My children! You both are back!” I looked up at the voice of his mom, getting out of the car.

“Now you have to take this juice daily,” She said then looked at Rauza and gave her some orders.

I wanted to groan but subconsciously I was feeling happy in my heart to know someone cared about me but I couldn't help and felt guilty to give her the happiness in the form of sin.

“Mom, can I go and take rest?” I asked her, politely.

She was giving instructions to Rauza but stopped when I asked her. She looked at me and nodded quickly.

“You just come back from a trip and here I make you sit. Silly me. Go and have rest, dear,” She said smiling, sheepishly.

I smiled back at her and stood up.

“Oh! I make Zayaan’s room tidy and clean for you. Though it was already cleaned there was a little dust in his room and I also put your clothes in his wardrobe,” Mom informed me.

I looked at her in confusion because I didn't understand why she made his room clean for me.

“Why for me?” I asked like an idiot and forgot we were husband and wife.

“Silly, you are his wife. His room is also yours,” She said with an amused smile and giggled.

I nodded my head and looked down. How could I forget that for everyone we lived like a happy couple. I went towards his room slowly. I opened the door of his room and entered.

Last time when his mother came here when Zayaan was away, she questioned me why my clothes were in the guest room. I had to lie to her that time and told her that time there wasn't much space in his wardrobe and we would set it together after Zayaan came.

I looked around his room and sat on the bed. They all were so nice and welcomed me and here I was doing wrong with them like deceiving everyone and more to myself.

His mother deserved a daughter in law who gave her true happiness, the one who would not put them in darkness.

I felt ashamed and degraded thinking about the future.
