Married Without Love novel Chapter 26

||Miahal's POV||

Ever since I had returned from the hospital, I had been ignored by Zayaan since then. It had been three weeks and he had been staying at his warehouse for the past three weeks. I had tried to reach him but he never answered my calls.

Without knowing, I was caring for him and was having feelings for him which was increasing as the time passed.

"Mishal, stop stressing, dear," Amma bi said and patted my cheek.

I was in amma bi's room to distract myself from Zayaan but how much I tried to stop thinking about him, I couldn't.

"I am not stressing, amma bi," I whispered and tried to smile but failed.

She sighed and shook her head in disappointment and stood up. She went to her wardrobe and disappeared in it while I pulled my lips in a pout. She came back with a box in her hands and mischievous in her eyes and a smile dancing on her lips.

"Should I feel scared?" I asked her, slowly and tried to hide my playful smile.

She looked at me and giggled before opening the box and put it beside me, on her bed. She pulled out a beautiful dress from it and handed it to me with a grin.

"Maybe you should or maybe not," She said and laughed before pushing the box aside and sat beside me.

I stared at the dress then turned to look at her and wished she didn't repeat what she had done before by sending me to Zayaan and arranged the dinner date.

"What is this for?" I asked her in confusion.

"I am taking you with me to my friend's granddaughter's wedding. A change of air is what you need right now," She said with a smile.

"And I have bought this dress for you but it seems like I forgot about it until now. Seriously, I am getting old now," She added and mumbled the last line and shook her head in disappointment.

"Now quickly get ready. We have to leave after an hour," She said, quickly.

I looked at the dress then back at amma bi who was smiling to herself. I knew she was up-to something and the wheel in her mind was working on something. Suddenly, I remembered about Zayaan and how much he disliked me when I went somewhere alone or without him.

"Does Zayaan know?" I asked her, politely.

"Yes, he knows and has no problem," She said, quickly.

I looked at her for a good five minutes then nodded my head slowly. It was hard to believe Zayaan had no problem. Amma bi quickly sent me to my room to get ready. I put the dress on the bed and walked inside the wardrobe.

A smile stretched on my lips when I noticed a jar of Nutella on the island. I quickly picked the Nutella and opened it. I dipped my finger in it and licked my chocolate-full finger.

Amma bi had put every type of chocolates in my room with some fruits. She always made sure I didn't feel hungry and crave for anything.

After eating half of Nutella, I put the jar back on the island and went to the washroom. I took shower and wore a fluffy robe before entering my wardrobe. I sat in front of my vanity and dried my hair. I did a light makeup and styled my hair but got tired so quickly.

I huffed and felt exhausted in a second. I stood up and went back to the room to take a little rest. I sat on the bed and leaned against the headboard before closing my eyes for a few seconds. After feeling good, I got up and changed into the dress which amma bi gave me.

I wore my flats instead of heels and went back inside the wardrobe to wear my jewelry. I looked last time at myself in the mirror then walked out of the wardrobe and room with my small clutch in my hand. I walked to amma bi's room and saw her wearing her gold bangles.

"If your dada was alive then he would have written a whole book on me or would have recited a beautiful poem for me," She said with a beautiful smile dancing on her lips and a longing look in her eyes.

"He would be very happy today to see his new daughter if was alive," She added, looking at me with a smile and twinkle in her eyes.

She stood up and took her bag from the bed then approached me.

"Let's go," She said and we both walked out of her room.

I descended the stairs slowly and carefully but stopped once I reached the last step and took a deep breath. Ever since I started carrying a life, I got tired more easily.

"I am feeling happy and relieved after Zayaan's mother took Aabro with her," Amma bi said, slowly.

It would be a lie if I said, I wasn't happy and relieved after Aabro went to Zayaan's parents house. But, suddenly, I frowned because I didn't expect this reaction from amma bi. I turned to look at her in confusion and followed her slowly.

"She is becoming so nosey and isn't behaving like herself," She added and a frown also formed on her face.

I didn't reply to her back and told her how I felt uncomfortable in Aabro's presence. Once we walked out of the house and reached the car, the driver opened the door for us. We both got in the car and the driver also got in his seat and started his car.

Once the driver started the car, I remember to buy something for the bride and groom. I turned to amma bi and called her. She hummed and turned to look at me.

"It doesn't seem good to attend someone's wedding without a gift. So, I thought, can we please stop by a gift shop?" I asked her, nicely.

Slowly, Zayaan stood closely beside me and put his arm around my shoulder softly and gently. Amma bi's friend took our picture and along with her amma bi's other friends also took our pictures then they made him put his arm around my waist.

"I think that's enough," He said to them, sternly.

"Don't be shy," Amma bi's friends whispered and giggled as they put their phones back in their bags.

Suddenly, I noticed the people around us were talking in a whisper or lowly and were glancing at us every two seconds later. Slowly and hesitantly, I looked up at Zayaan who was looking so cold yet so peaceful at the same time with his arm still wrapped around my waist.

I smiled at him softly then looked back at amma bi who was smiling and talking to her friends. Being so close to him was also making me peaceful and relaxed.

"Mr. Zayaan Khan, you make me feel honored with your presence in my daughter's reception," I heard a male voice from behind us which made Zayaan to slowly pull his arm away from me.

We both turned around and saw a man smiling warmly at Zayaan. He shook Zayaan's hand then turned to look at me.

"This must be your wife," He said with a fatherly smile which made me smile softly back at him.

"Welcome both of you to my daughter's reception and I hope you both enjoy it," He said and looked back at Zayaan with a big smile.

One look at that man's smile and anyone could tell that he was seriously happy with Zayaan's presence.

"If you don't mind, I want you both to meet my daughter's in-laws," He added, hesitantly with a nervous smile.

I felt Zayaan glancing down at me then looking back at the bride's father with a short nod. Bride's father grinned and excused himself to call his daughter's in-laws. After two minutes later, the bride's father reappeared with someone behind him.

"Mr. and Mrs. Zayaan Khan, meet my daughter's in-laws. Ahwab Shah and his wife. Parents of Numan Shah, my daughter's husband," He said and stepped aside.

On hearing those names made my heart to drop in my stomach and the smile also dropped from my lips. I looked at the old couple standing in front of me with wide eyes and slowly and unconsciously stepped more close to Zayaan.

Because the old couple standing in front of me was none other than my own parents. Pa and ma. I tore my gaze from them and looked at the stage where I saw my brother, Numan, sitting beside the bride. He was talking to someone when, suddenly, his eyes caught mine.

His eyes held the same shock and surprise as me and he slowly stood up in disbelief and slowly approached me.
