Married To The Mad Vampire Lord novel Chapter 85

Chapter 85: Betrayal_Part 3

"Rohan, I will haunt you and kill you!" she screamed on her descent to the unforgiving ground.

Rohan, on the other hand, nonchalantly watched her falling and then he sighed and smiled before throwing himself after her.

"I won’t let you come after me when you become a ghost, wife."

Belle, who was falling in slow motion and had given up and knew she would die, suddenly felt something powerful wrench her waist and yank her in a way the wind gushed in her face and her heart felt like it was dropping faster than her body was. Her eyes flew open as she heard the flapping and clapping of something loud and felt the strong arms that wrapped around her and pressed her to something familiar and warm.

She gasped as she was greeted with the face of the devil who had pushed her to her death. His grinning face was right in front of her, and the first thing she wanted to do was to actually hit him so hard on the face, but an attempt to raise her hand in such a situation wasn’t ideal or smart, and it actually took her a few more moments to realize she was being held midair by him.

Her eyes drifted just to the side where something caught her attention, and a louder gasp left her mouth as she clung to him even before she knew what she was doing. She caught sight of the flapping large black wings behind him.

He had wings!!! Belle thought, her eyes rounding to the point it seemed they would fall out as she couldn’t believe her eyes. And before she could even calm down to process that fact, he flapped the wings and flew higher with her, causing her to wrap her arms around his neck and let out a scream that made him grimace and moved his head back from her screaming. He warned into her ear,

"Don’t make me drop you, sweetheart. Hold on tight and scream less," he said just before his powerful, large wings lifted them higher into the night clouds. Then, with a sudden twist, he wrapped his wings tightly around them and plummeted downwards in a sharp dive, before snapping them open again and soaring higher into the sky. And when he reached the highest point his wings could take them, he stopped, the strong, steady flapping keeping him suspended.

He looked down at his wife, who fearfully clung to his neck, holding him in a death grip, her head pressed in the crook of his neck, whimpering softly into his skin. He grinned and then whispered close to her ear, "Open your eyes, my heart."

Belle dared not. She was afraid of heights and would not have even walked to the tower clock roof had she been in her right senses. "A-are we still flying?" she questioned shakily, tightening her hold around him as she could still hear the flapping of those mighty black wings that seemed to come from hell just like it’s owner.

"Yes. We are at the top of the world. Open your eyes and see," he coaxed gently.

At the top of the world? Belle thought at his coaxing words, but as tempting as it might sound to see the world from above, thought of the height made her shake her head and hold on tightly. "Take me down first."

Rohan chuckled deeply in his throat, the sound vibrating against Belle’s breast that was pressed against his chest because of how tightly she clung to him.

"I won’t drop you. Open your eyes, I promise," he coaxed again.

You made me fall from the tower! Belle wanted to say, but she bit it back, fearing if she annoyed him up here, he would let go of her. How he changed so fast was a surprise to her. One moment he had wanted to kill her, and now he was holding on to her midair in the sky and whispering coaxingly into her ears.

Mustering up the courage she did not feel, she moved her head back from his neck and slowly opened one eye, and she gasped as she was met with flashes of lightning and faint clouds that made her realize they were indeed in the night sky with his mighty wings flapping.

"How is almost killing me a way to make me feel what you felt?!" she exclaimed indignantly.

"Betrayal. Did you not feel a sense of betrayal when I told you to jump and made you fall? You thought I betrayed your trust in me, didn’t you?" he questioned, his grin falling away as his eyes trailed down to her pale pink lips that trembled slightly at his question as if she was at a loss for words. "That was exactly how I felt when I found that letter and that you had gone to meet him."

Belle was silent. It was true she had felt betrayed and also thought that he had made her believe in him just for him to break it by wanting to kill her. It turned out he had no intentions of actually killing her but to only make her feel what he had felt. The near-death experience made her shudder at the thought, but then she also hated that her anger could be disarmed so quickly and leave her wondering how he could have felt the way she felt when he had no heart.

Could it be that one did not need a heart to feel some emotions? She couldn’t help her sudden curiosity to figure out what other emotions he could feel but thought he couldn’t because he lacked a heart. Was the heart truly what we needed to feel?

"I wasn’t going to him to elope," Belle muttered after a few moments of silence where he only stared down at her lips with the fierce wind blowing at them.

"But you still had the thought, didn’t you?" he questioned gravely, and Belle remained silent because it was true. She had the intention of going with Jamie if her heart still beat for him as it had once, but then she did not think she would have gone on with it knowing she was married to a man who occupied most of her mind and who she suspected she was also starting to... frёewebηovel.cѳm

Suddenly, Rohan tightened his hold around her and flapped his wings and went flying back down. He caught her so off guard she let out a little scream and closed her eyes, wrapping her arms back around his neck.
