Married To The Mad Vampire Lord novel Chapter 537

Chapter 537: The other realm_Part 1

He wanted to put the life of killing aimlessly aside and become the family man he truly wanted to be, but having the vampires building new towns anywhere around here wasn’t really putting his mind at rest. Nobody knew he had caused the destruction that made many lose their possessions and close ones, and having them near meant there was a real risk of them finding out and the whole world coming for his family.

Knowing he could not hide his worries from his wife, who could feel them even when he tried, Rohan turned to lie on his side, his head resting on his bent elbow as he sighed and then finally told her about the vampires’ new towns.

"They wouldn’t know unless someone tells them that you caused the destruction, and I don’t think anyone would." Belle had said, trying to assure him. Though she still found it hard to believe that Rohan had gone to such an extreme length in order to bring her back, she didn’t want him carrying worries about their family being in harm’s way.

Rohan had been betrayed by people enough times to know that things could go wrong, especially when one had a sire like Ereves, who would use anything to bend him to his will. The demon had done many things just to force Rohan into giving him one of his children, to the point that he had even made a deal with Cordelia. What guarantee was there that he wouldn’t suddenly appear and threaten him in the future in order to take Rohan’s son or daughter?

When Rohan decided to settle down, he wanted to do it with no looming threats hanging over their heads. He didn’t want a repeat of what had happened months ago, when he had lost his wife because he hadn’t taken proper precautions for their lives and future. This time, he wanted everything done right.

Which was why, when Rohan was standing atop a mountain hill one morning, looking down at his land where his family was, and at the other side far away where the new vampire town had been built, he wasn’t surprised to hear Ereves’ voice in his head.

Actually, Rohan had expected the demon to contact him soon enough and try to threaten him again, especially after he had told Belle not to welcome Ereves into their lives. However, what the demon said now was completely unexpected.

"I can’t believe you still think I would join hands with the vampires to threaten your future. You think so low of me, boy," Ereves said in his mind.

Rohan let out a low, dry chuckle. "Oh, of course, Father Dearest. How foolish of me to imagine the ever-trustworthy Ereves would stoop to such childish schemes. Truly, I should apologize for doubting your impeccable sense of honor right after I remind you how ’honorable’ you’ve been."

Without giving him a chance to respond, Rohan continued, his voice cold. "The last time I remembered, it was you who went behind my back and made a deal with Zion to make my plans to kill him fail. And it was still the same you who made another deal with that bitch to take my wife away from me. And don’t make me start with how, when we were in Bimmerville, you led men after my wife’s life, showing them where to find her and making her life, pregnant and struggling, even harder, just so you could get your way."

Rohan’s eyes narrowed, his tone dripping with contempt. "With all of that, do you still expect me to think the good of you, when there’s nothing good about you, Ereves?"

"In every way. I know you have heard of how the other demons joined hands to ruin the entire world of the demons of darkness. I just found out that, just like me, a few of us survived, only they have been held captive in the other realm of the demons of light."

"So?" Rohan inquired disinterestedly.

"I plan to release them. There are five of them, two females and three males. Only I can’t step into the light of their world; I am made from darkness and they from light. But you can go there, as you are not a pure demon," Ereves said, and before Rohan would deny helping him, he quickly added, "If you succeed in helping them, they would forever be indebted to you and would follow your command. Your family’s safety would be ensured, and no one would ever come close to hurting any of them, for I will make sure to wipe off every single memory of those who remember you as the mad vampire. Even if they come across you in the mountainside one day, you would be meeting for the first time."

Rohan considered this for some moments. If he refused to help, he would live carrying the worries that Ereves would go against him and bring another danger to his family. But if he helped him in getting back his kind, he would not only get him off his back and drop the ridiculous idea that Rohan would give him one of his children, but he would also be a protector.

Though Rohan despised the demon so much, he realized this was a way to secure their safety. "Tell me what’s there to know about the demons of light before I step into their realm."
