Belle cried for a long moment, and Rohan held her through it until she was relaxed again. He gently pulled back to look at her, her red, swollen eyes glistening in the moonlight that streamed through the cracks in the wooden barn walls, falling on her flushed face. Rohan raised his hand and caressed her cheeks, wiping away any lingering traces of tears.
"What’s wrong, my heart? Why are you crying? Did I do something you didn’t like?" he asked gently. She shook her head.
"You didn’t do anything wrong, Rohan..." she whispered quietly. He looked at her with his eyes, silently asking why she was crying. "I just realized... how much I loved you. I love you so much." She rubbed her hand against his strong bicep as she looked into his eyes. Since the moment she had returned, he had shown and told her how much he loved her, but she had been unable to say the words back. Now, she felt the rightness, the feeling of her love for him overflowing.
Rohan’s lips pulled into a gentle smile. "Are you remembering?" he asked, looking down at her.
"Not the memories exactly, but the feelings... I remember the feeling I had for you. The love we shared," Belle whispered, her eyes filling with tears, which he kissed away the moment they fell from her cheeks.
"I am glad, Isa. I am glad," he breathed, hugging her close. They held each other like that for a long time before Rohan moved back. "Let me clean you first before you sleep," he told her, and Belle, who was drifting off, realized what he meant and flushed.
"Why did you pull out?" she asked.
Rohan looked at his wife and said, "We don’t have the pregnancy-stopping pills anymore. I don’t want to take a chance. Stay here, I will be back." Saying that, Rohan opened his portal and went straight to the bathhouse, returning with a pitcher of water and a towel.
He dip the towel into the water and wrung it before bringing it to between her legs. With the warm towel, he gently wiped the junction of her thighs, cleaning her of any of the seed he had spilled, before moving to wipe his own groin.
When he finished cleaning them both, Rohan threw himself down next to her on the blanket and pulled her to his side, pillowing her head against his arm. He draped one leg over her and then pulled the other side of the blanket over their bodies so he could keep her warm through the night.
It was after she settled into the warmth of his arms that Belle felt a sting on her neck and remembered he had bitten her. She raised her hand and placed it over the spot, and Rohan dipped his chin to look down at her to say,
"I marked you again, love. It works this time, I can feel your emotions more clearly, and you just felt mine a few minutes ago," he whispered softly, smiling as he saw the surprise on her face at his words.
"You really don’t mind me like this?" she asked quietly, and he answered in a heartbeat. "I don’t."
And he truly didn’t mind her feelings not being as strong as his, because she did feel it. Only she minded, because she wanted to be herself completely again. She wanted to be whole with her entire memories. To remember what it felt like when she first began to have feelings for him, when they had their first child, the beauty and the struggles of being pregnant, of being a reaper, of being in love and being a wife. She wanted to remember everything desperately, but that was no longer up to her, because she held none of those memories anymore.
"Make love to me again," she whispered into his neck, and even before she finished the words, he had already entered her while they still lay on their sides.
He made love to her until she no longer had the strength to feel the sadness of not remembering, or the guilt of not being able to love him as strongly as he loved her. Their coupling went from gentle to wild, and from wild to playful, until she was exhausted beyond words itself. She lay with her head against his chest, feeling his fierce heartbeat thundering beneath her ear and luring her toward sleep.
"Are we sleeping here?" Belle asked, half asleep already.
"Yes. Don’t worry, I will take us back inside before everyone wakes up. Sleep," he murmured, pressing his lips to her hair. Feeling tired himself, he closed his eyes and let the peaceful sleep pull him in.
