Married To The Mad Vampire Lord novel Chapter 489

Chapter 489: His letter

"Josh, what are you saying? I am still the same woman you loved. I have not changed, only my face has, and I will find a way to make it look good again once you get me out of here," Cordelia tried to convince him. She had never actually thought it could be such a big deal to lose one’s beauty to a man who claimed he loved you.

That useless human, Isabelle had a scar on her brow and didn’t even look as close to as good as she did, but her cousin had still chosen her. What was the difference here that this stupid Josh couldn’t overlook? Cordelia wondered in agitation.

Josh, who heard her words, could only scoff. "And why should I waste my time with you looking like that when I can get another beautiful woman? There are many fish in the water, why waste my time with a hideous, unappetizing one? Now that I think about it, it will be much easier for me to get a human. I only put up with you because I have never seen a beautiful woman like you, and I want my son to have good looks that run in my family genes."

Cordelia, who could no longer take his insults, dropped her pretense of acting pitiful. She gritted her teeth and said, "You bastard. Did you think I would give a man like you a second glance if it weren’t for your stupidity? Pathetic humans are not my kind. I only chose you because you are too dumb to realize you are being played."

Cordelia saw the look of shock that crossed his face; her words had struck his pride and ego, which he had in abundance. She smirked in satisfaction. She didn’t need him to leave this dungeon, she only needed his refill, which he had dropped close to the gate. She would use it to unlock the lock, but she wouldn’t allow him to have the last word or insult her the way he was doing when he wasn’t any better.

Cordelia continued to speak.

"I only used you to rise back to power. You think you are the judge of beauty, but if you had nothing in your pocket, no one would look at you twice, for your face is too square and your lips are too fat, and don’t even get me started on that crooked nose of yours. You go around judging everyone’s looks when yours look like crushed potatoes underfoot. I hate every moment I spent with you. You are a man with no balls to even get a woman pregnant!..."

Josh could no longer take anything she was saying. His head began to ring the moment she dared to insult his handsome looks and degrade him in such a manner. He, the man everyone praised for his beauty, the man who believed mirrors existed just to admire him, she dared compare him to crushed potatoes?! He had been called an Adonis, a masterpiece, a face sculpted by the gods. How dare she call him crushed potatoes?

His pride stung harder than any physical blow, because to Josh, his looks were his crown, his throne, and the only thing he valued about himself.

"...no wonder your former wife chose a mere servant over you. Your ugly face repulsed me more than you can know. You—" Cordelia’s words suddenly stopped when Josh swiftly moved and grabbed his refill from the ground and then pointed it toward her, his face red with anger.

"What are you going to do with that? Put it away right now, Josh!" Cordelia warned warily.

Josh’s ego and pride had been stabbed the moment she insulted his looks and called him a man with no balls. He would show her, show her exactly how handsome he was and exactly how many balls he had.

"Goodbye, Cordie. I hope you burn in hell for insulting my looks, the ones given to me by my beautiful mother." With that, he pulled the trigger three times, each shot landing on the same spot on her neck until her head hung by a thread and then slipped, her body collapsing sideways with a heavy thud. He had lived in Nightbrook all his life; he knew well enough that if you didn’t destroy a vampire’s heart, taking off the head was the next best option.

"You’re the only bitch who thinks I’m not good-looking. Now let’s see how you can spread that idea to anyone else who thinks me fine," Josh muttered as he spat toward her body. Then he walked away, not a flicker of regret touching his so called perfect face.

However, the moment he stepped out of the dungeon, he almost ran headfirst into a rogue who stood there watching him with glowing white eyes. The rogue looked as if it had turned only recently, its body not yet fully decomposed, and Josh immediately raised his refill to fire. However, he had used all the bullets on Cordelia.

The rogue was none other than Rav, who had completed his transformation and was now roaming the castle grounds. The sound of the refill earlier had drawn him to the dungeon, and now there was another meal directly in front of him.

Josh’s face went pale as he realized he had no bullets left. Desperate, he hurled the refill at the rogue, but it merely struck the creature and fell to the ground without causing any harm.

"I’ll be damned!" Josh cursed, stumbling backward as he tried to retreat into the cell. But before he could escape, the savage creature lunged at him. Josh let out a terrified scream that was instantly drowned out by the rogue’s relentless, brutal attacks.

Meanwhile, inside the castle, Evenly sat before the entrance door, her shoulders trembling from the sobs that tore from her mouth after she no longer sensed Rav connected to her. Her fists ached from how hard she had pounded against the solid door, trying to open it, but it hadn’t budged, not even Angel had been able to open it for her when he noticed her struggle.
