Married To The Mad Vampire Lord novel Chapter 345

Chapter 345: Missing baby_Part 2

Belle sat in the refreshment room with Evenly and Rav as they were shown expensive attire and jewelry samples by the young women assisting them.

"...you will like this one here. See, it will go well with your hazel eyes, my lady." One of the girls placed the dress fabric close to Belle’s skin so she could see how well it would suit her, all the while being careful with her words, aware of the creatures in the room with them.

"I think this one will go better with her skin tone and eyes," Evenly countered, picking up a different fabric from the one the human girl was showing. In her opinion, the one the girl had chosen was too plain and simple for a noble and would dull Belle’s natural beauty.

Belle let Evenly choose for her, trusting her judgment, as the lady was an expert in jewelry and designs, having once been the wife of a man who crafted accessories for high-ranking vampire nobles.

Angel had sprawled himself on the long sofa, playing with an old newsletter. He giggled happily to himself as he tore its pages, amused by the sound the paper made and how easily the thin sheets ripped between his tiny fingers. He was so engrossed in his little game that he didn’t care how his loud, happy giggles were making the assistants turn toward him with frowns, as though they had never imagined a vampire baby could play so innocently, like a normal child.

Belle then turned back to the girl showing them the designs and asked, "Do you have ones for babies, like the boy lying on the couch? I also want to look through the best you have for adult males, something in darker colors, and men’s accessories with rare and unique designs."

She wanted to buy something both for her Rohan and for her son. Everything she was being shown so far wasn’t to her liking, nor did she think they would suit her man, as most were made in bright, flashy colors, which Rohan disliked.

She couldn’t help but wonder where Rohan was now and what he was doing in the Dawsons’ house when he could have come with them. The thought lingered in her mind as she rose to her feet when the girl she had asked told her that the things she wanted were displayed in a section upstairs.

"I will look through them myself; you don’t have to bring them down to me," Belle said with a small smile before turning to Evenly. "You can choose for us, I trust your judgment in fashion. Also, help Rav pick something, I will be right back once I get what I want." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

She tried to sneak past the back of the sofa where Angel was still playing so he wouldn’t notice her leaving, but the baby was too smart and attentive. Despite his distraction, he noticed the moment she moved. His smile instantly faded, and he turned his handsome, little face toward her, tilting it in that observant way of his. Pushing himself up with the support of the armrest, he stood on the sofa and opened his little arms for her to carry him, a cry already rising in his throat.

Knowing that if she left without carrying him, Angel would start crying and disturb the peace of the place, she sighed in defeat and went forward to pick him up. The moment she did, a wide, triumphant smile broke across his face.

"What a hypocrite you are, Max," Belle teased as she pinched his nose, then turned back to Evenly and said, "I will take him with me."

Belle was shown to the section of the men’s attire upstairs, displayed on mannequins made of carved wood, with accessories in glass boxes kept in line on top of a long table. She held Angel in one arm as she tilted her head to look at the display of gold pocket watches, along with studded men’s diamond rings in different colors arranged in open ring boxes.

"This will look good on your papa, right, Angel—" Belle said as she turned to show the attire she had picked to her son behind her, just as she had been showing him everything else. But she froze, stunned and shocked, when she found the chair empty. Panic immediately gripped her heart. She dropped the clothes and rushed toward the empty chair.

"Angel!" she called out, looking frantically around as the few people in the shop turned to stare at her. She didn’t care what they thought as she began searching everywhere, even bending down to look beneath the racks. The chair she had placed him in had been not even eleven feet away from where she had been examining the attire, he couldn’t have gone far if he had climbed down!

Belle’s panic mounted into full-blown terror when she still didn’t find him anywhere inside the shop, despite frantically searching every corner of the large space. How could he have disappeared in a blink of an eye when she had only turned away for just a single minute?

Nobody could have taken him, she told herself in desperation, Angel would have cried out to call her attention!

Belle’s throat tightened with tears of terror at the thought of someone snatching her son right under her nose without her knowledge. She rushed toward the door to check outside, but just then she heard his cry coming from somewhere inside the room next to the shop. She froze in her tracks.

His cries grew louder, and she didn’t hesitate another moment. Bursting into the room with the sign that read Refreshment Room, Belle entered and came to an abrupt stop at the sight before her. From her panic-stricken state, her emotions slowly shifted into full blown rage.
