LUNA
"W-What? Skyler is sick?" I could not believe what I heard.
"Damn, yes! He had appendicitis. It exploded and poisoned his body. But he doesn't want to have surgery until you're not here."
"Luna!" I heard Skyler's voice, based on his voice he seemed to like it was getting close to the pain.
"W-Wait, Trey, I can't go—"
"Please, Luna, save my friend. He needs you."
Does he need me?
I faintly sat down next to Dylan. The phone is still in my ear. I know Dylan is already wondering what's going on. If I go to Skyler, Dylan will get angry. It was as if destiny was really at play, Skyler's face appeared on the television screen with pain.
"A Haribon soccer player Skyler Madrigal refused to have surgery until his girlfriend arrived. The player's appendix exploded and continues to be treated at a hospital in California." News Reporter.
"Trey, I'm going. Tell Skyler I'm coming. So he agreed to have surgery." I said quickly.
"Okay. Thank you, Luna." I hung up the phone and ran upstairs to the bedroom.
"Where do you think you're going?" I stopped putting clothes in the little bag I was going to carry. His face is serious. His eyes were also burning.
"Dylan, I have to go to California. Skyler doesn't want surgery until I'm there."
He quickly grabbed my arm. "Let him die then. You're not leaving me. You're not leaving this fucking house!"
"You can't stop me. I'm sorry." I said softly.
"FUCKINGSHIT! You're not going to him. You're not leaving! Is he more important than me your husband !?" He shouts it out.
"I'll be back too, Dylan. I'll be there in a minute." I forcefully remove his hand.
Skyler sacrificed a lot of things for me back then. He is always by my side when I need his help. He will not leave me. He's my best friend. And now, he needs me. Who am I to reject someone who has been a part of my life? And hopefully, Dylan understands that.
I stopped packing and faced him. "Dylan, I'll be right back, too. If you want, just come with me."
I was hurt to see the pain in his eye. "I don't want to. I have a lot of commitments left here in the Philippines. And I don't trust that man."
"Dylan, please." I know we both hurt but he should trust that I will come back. He hugged me tightly.
"Luna, don't leave me." I felt his breath on my ears. I can hear his sobs and it silently breaking my heart.
"It is necessary, Dylan, you know how much I love you. Just please, I beg you, trust me. I'm going to come back."
He pushed me away. I sit on the bed. My hair stood on end at the sight of anger in his eyes. "Okay, leave then. Looks like I can't stop you anymore. So go ahead, go to her if she can make you happy. But this is what you remember, Luna, by the time you leave, everything will change."
I just winced at every sharp word that came out of his mouth. Although I was hurt, I understood him. He's just mad. I stood up and held his hand but he quickly avoided it. The corner of my eye heats up.
"Dylan .."
"Leave now! I won't stop you."
"Please, clear your mind, Dylan. I don't pick him. He just needs me."
"I need you here too."
"I love you, Dylan. So hopefully, trust me I'll be back. Skyler is just my friend. I won't be there long, promise."
"Leave." In his cold voice.
I bit my lip to avoid the shiver on my spine. I hurt the two of us. I looked at my travelling bag and looked at Dylan again. His fist was clenched as if something was holding him back.
I went inside Skyler's room. Trey didn't follow me anymore because he said he would give us Sky's moment.
I approached the side of its bed. "Sky .."
He slowly opened his eyes. That grew when he saw me. It was as if a blockage had been removed from my throat. I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Luna, I'm glad you're here." Weakening it says.
"Hey there." I grabbed his hand and squeezed slightly. I avoided the IV that was stuck in his hand so he wouldn’t get hurt. "You scared me."
He smiled wistfully. "I just want to see you before I die."
"Don't say that."
His forehead furrowed. He licked his lower lip before speaking. "Where's your husband?"
I smiled sadly at him. Tears were running down my eyes. I knew he noticed the pain and tiredness in my eye.
He lifted his hand and wiped away my tears. "Why did you choose me?"
"Because I'm so worried about you. Because you were beside me when I needed you—"
"So, you're just returning the favour." His voice trembled. "Did you get into a fight? Did he hurt you?"
I bent down and held back a tear. "He's so upset. I have to go back to him as soon as possible."
"You do love him so much. I'm sorry, Luna. I just can't let you go. But why is that? I want to be by your side, but every time I'm by your side you always cry. Is it really painful to be with me? "
